Dog-proof your kids and kid-proof your dogs, that’s the main idea here. Many accidents and tragedies can be avoided by simply being prepared and taking care.

Start your dog off right, give him or her what they deserve, put a smile on their face with the best Dog Supplies that is available at Doggy Dog Supplies. You will find Dog Clothes and Dog Beds that are the best designs and best looking on the internet.

First, you should never leave your dog chained and unattended. Most of the guard dogs suffer personality quirks when tied and many become downright aggressive. You are better off by keeping them in fences which creates a barrier between them and the world. This also keeps them somewhat safe from the children. Many times dogs equate high-pitched sounds of children with sounds of distress of prey animals and may react by biting the child.

Second, the child should be taught how to behave around dogs, even if the family does not own any dogs. A child should never go near a strange dog and should always ask the owner whether it is ok to pat it. If a child sees a loose dog on the road he should never go near it, even though he may know who it belongs to he should not approach it and should tell someone about the dog. The child should never scream or run away for these actions can result in an attack by the dog. When it sees the child running the brain tells it to chase the child. The dog here is reacting to chemical stimulus, not rational thought, it can be very difficult to divert its attention.

Many dogs even though they may be trained don’t see children as figures of authority. Children sometimes stare at dogs; the dog may feel threatened and attack the child.

If the child is granted permission to go near the dog the child should present a closed fist, protecting his or her fingers. Children should never hug dogs that don’t belong to them, even if it is theirs they should hug it gently and should check if the dog is ok with it or not. Children should never hit dogs, they should leave the dog alone when it’s sleeping, eating or ill and should never tease as they might bite if you tease them beyond their endurance level.

Dog owners should also take up responsibilities to avoid attacks. They should socialize their puppies with small children, so as to make the dog become more tolerant.

The sight of a child and dog napping together or playing is priceless but one should understand the relationship between them. Both should be taught and trained to respect and love each other.

Dog agility equipment, what is in your head when we talk about it? Exactly, this is some device used to train dog well for dog agility contest. In the recent time dog agility contest is a kind of game hold every year in United States. This contest involves not only many kinds of dogs but also good dog trainers and dog owners to train them. Dog agility equipment, both bought and hand-made, is needed to train our dogs well so that they are ready to bind in dog agility contest whenever it is thrown. It is said so since in the dog agility contest, there are some obstacles which have to be challenged and passed through by the dog without making any blunders.

By teaching them using dog agility equipment, we make them accustomed to face with a ‘real competition’ so that in the truly agility contest held by a formal organization the dog could do as best as it could and hopefully they could be the victor of the competition. There are some component of the training itself to make a successful competition: the dogs, the dogs trainers or dogs handlers, and also dog agility equipment as well.

Dog Trainers

In the training programs the dog trainers or dog handlers could do anything to convince or push the dogs run through the dog agility equipment, by offering incentives (food or snack), touching the dogs’ part of the body or anything else. Those ways are done in order to quicken the dogs run through the course of obstacles. However, they could not touch or give any food and snack to the dog while they are competing in a real contest. In the real competition, the only thing the trainers could do is giving verbal and physical instructions to their dog. Thus, training using dog agility equipment in a course of training programs has to be maximized so that successfully training program could bring them a success to their real competition. Herein, the trainers or handlers’ role is truly needed in order to direct them in that way.

Dog Agility Equipment

One kind of dog agility equipment is a-frame. The A-frame consists of 2 platforms which are joined together with a hinge and are lifted up in order to belong the hinged connection to be about five to six feet higher than the ground. The form of the device is A-frame, and the dogs have to pass through over it.

The dog walk is the dog agility equipment consisting of 3 boards attached together at the ends of the boards. The mid board is elevated up to about 4 feet from the ground which gives the dog walk with 2 ramps. The dogs have to cross up one of the ramps to the top board and then pass through down the other ramp to reach the ground.

The teeter-totter is a long board which pivots on a support. The component is created to be a little off balance in order for the alike end of the board to always return back to the ground. This kind of dog ability equipment has to be designed so that the tiny dogs that are competing in the dog agility contest can make the higher end of the device go down to the ground.

It can be sum up that A-frame, dog walk, teeter-totter, crossover, weave poles and several kinds of jumps are some usual dog agility equipment used for dog agility training. Those devices are employed to enhance the dog ability and dog’s speed to pass through the course of obstacles they are faced in a dog agility contest. It has to be taken into account that the equipment are only items used to support the training, while one of the most essential thing is the trainers itself and the dog ability in doing so.

New Puppy – Questions You Should Ask When Buying An Older Puppy

Most of the time people purchase new puppies and bring them home around the age of six to eight weeks. This is the perfect time period in which they are best to be weaned from their mother and conditioned to live with you and the rest of the family. It makes bonding much easier because you have immediately replaced the puppy’s mother with yourself.

Making the decision to bring home an older puppy requires vast amounts of information about the puppy and the only way to get this information and determine if you are willing to take home the puppy is to ask questions about it.

We know that you want to check out some http://www.yourdogsuppliesstore.com/1/Dog_Pajamas.html view now!

Considerations when it comes to older puppies.

One of the biggest benefits of getting an older puppy right off the bat is that their behavior is a lot more calm than a younger pup and the dog has usually been socialized to a small degree when it comes to the day-to-day chaos of living in a house with other people. Their first home has already conditioned them for you.

Watch out for older puppies that may have been neglected. It is important not to be too naive when you are discussing the option of buying an older puppy from someone. Not everybody sells their dogs for positive reasons. Some owners are trying to get rid of them simply because they couldn’t take care of the puppy’s needs and due to this reason they probably neglected the dog for a long period of time.

Sometimes these awful living conditions can lead to certain types of stresses in the puppy as well as anxiety and for that reason you need to make sure that you are prepared for the extra care you may have to offer it. Furthermore, when getting an older puppy, since your family will always have more questions about the puppy than you could think of at the time of the meeting, you should bring them with you so that a clear and concise decision can be made as to whether or not the puppy is a good choice for you and your family.

And of course, you’ll want to ask the owner a few basic questions before making a buying decision. Ask if the dog has had any type of training. Find out firsthand if the puppy displays any behavioral bad habits such as aggression, chewing, or excessive barking. Also, make sure that this is the first and only home the dog has been in. If he has lived elsewhere before the current owner then find out why he was sold. These are just a few of the basic questions you should know to ask. Add more questions to your list for better due diligence.

The only way to truly treat dog hip dysplasia is if you catch the disease early. But since our pets can’t talk, they can’t really tell us when they are hurting. So as a pet owner it is important for you to keep a look out for dog hip dysplasia symptoms.

Even this can be a problem because dogs don’t always show when they are in pain, and in some cases the disease can exist for years before you’ll even notice. And if you want to treat it successfully, more often than not you have to catch it before it develops into arthritis.

See if your pet has trouble getting up, avoids the stairs, or avoids jumping like he once did. These are signs you should take your dog to the vet for x-rays or a physical examination.

I am going to tell you about the mastiff dog breed and what make Charlie for dinner. As you can imagine Charlie is my mastiff. He is an English Mastiff. There are quite a few breeds out there which have their own characteristicsbut I stopped at Charlie. He is of the dark fawn-brindle ( flecked in browns) persuasion and of average size and weight(32 inches tall and nearing 190 lbs).

English Mastiff Food

First of all , let me tell you all that I have heard success stories will all different types of diets for mastiffs from Pure meat to almost vegetarian but this is what I feed mine and it has done Charlie wonders. I got this recipe from a friend of the family that had an English Mastiff for as long as I have known him and his have always seemed full of energy an cheerful . Well full of energy for a mastiff that is.

I started feeding Charlie puppy kibble and it seemed to be doing just fine but once he became a teen he started looking like he needed a little more. I tried just feeding him more kibble at the beginning but he still seemed skinny and a little tired . That’s when I started feeding him what he eats now and it has worked.

Napolean Mastiffs

I main ingredients are ground turkey, brown rice and raw veggies. Mainly carrots broccoli and cauliflower. I cook a half pound of ground turkey till tis done and add about half a cup of cooked brown rice. I chop up about a cups worth of vegetables until they are small enough to where I wouldn’t need to cut them if I ate them. I mix them all together and serve it to him after it cools. I also place his bowl on a stool so he doesn’t have to bend over to eat. He usually cleans his bowl empty with the exception of a tiny bit of rice .

I do this once for breakfast and once for dinner. I have made a few days worth of meals and saved them in the fridge and that seems to work just fine too. One thing i have never done is made tons and frozen it and fed it to him over a week or two but I can only assume that would work too and maybe even be cheaper seeing as how you could buy it in bulk.

Mastiff Training

He came around fast . You could see Charlie changing and within a month or so he had a healthier coat and more energy. He even started putting on some lean muscle weight. Charlie is now a very cheerful English Mastiff he has energy I have a friend that has an American Bandogge Mastiff and he loves this diet too so I can only imagine that every type of the mastiff dog breed would too. I love this breed and i love my good ole dog so I hope you try this diet for a while and see of it makes your dog as cheerful and healthy as mine.

Aging dogs are less adaptable to, and more adversely affected by, stress and change.  Yet so many dog owners do not take this into consideration when making plans involving their older dog. For example, for years you and your dog enjoyed those races through the woods or around the playground. You may still enjoy it now, but your older dog possibly finds it difficult to keep up with you.

What used to be lots of fun may now make him a bit grouchy and force him to breathe abnormally hard. You have just redecorated the house, and what used to be your dog’s favorite spot to relax in, is now occupied by a piece of furniture. Your dog becomes restless, temperamental, may even urinate or defecate in the house or right on that piece of furniture, and you cannot understand why.

It is not necessary to baby or spoil a dog just because he is aging. In fact, this should be carefully avoided, as it is a trap into which many dog owners readily fall. You should encourage your older dog to take part in family life as always, but you must be alert to avoid undue stresses or unnecessary changes. That piece of new furniture does not have to stand on the exact spot where he has snoozed for more than ten years. In his mind that spot is his personal territory. Even in his youth such a loss would have been upsetting, but he would soon find another acceptable location. The older dog finds it more difficult to adjust and can develop undesirable behavior as a result.

A dog is both a dependent and an independent animal in his relationship with you. In youth he will follow your every footstep even to the point of getting underfoot. His greatest joy is to be with you everywhere, and there are few times he wants to be by himself. As he gets older, however, this will often change, and he may seek solitude much more of the time. He loves you still but, depending on his physical state, he just prefers to be by himself. He will play with you and be your companion, but do not expect necessarily the same kind of response you got from him when he was a lot younger.

Take care not to “kill him with kindness” by offering what you consider tasty morsels of human food such as cake, ice cream, bacon, or liver pate. Such sudden changes in diet can produce serious stomach and intestinal upset, resulting in profuse vomiting or diarrhea. It may also encourage your dog to refuse his normal food and hold out for the “goodies” which in time  can cause severe nutritional imbalance.
