Christmas, as we all know, is a time for giving. We give gifts to friends, family and loved ones, so why not for our pets too? It might be fair to suggest that a cot or dog probably doesn’t quite get into the same holiday spirit that most humans do, that is by no means an excuse to exclued them from your Christmas activities - far from it in fact. So what should be on the festive agenda for your pet at Christmas? The safe option is also sometimes the best, so why not get your pet a special treat. Just as we buy toys and sweets for children, a dog is unlikely to turn its nose up at a new bone or chew, whilst a feline friend will appreciate some nibbles or a new scratching post. There are wild and wonderful gifts available though for your pets this Christmas. Whilst most will choose a more conservative, even obvious gifts like those mentioned above, it’s a mad, mad world out there and for every human gift there’s a pet equivalent to choose from.
One thing that we often give one another at Christmas is clothing. Some breeds can suffer during the colder climate that winter and Christmas time provide, particularly those with shorter, or indeed no hair, or lack the same body mass of their larger counterparts. So why not make sure they are kept warm with an over coat. Of course there are some subtle designs out there, which are manufactured wholly for practicality, not necessarily style; then there are those that are quite the opposite.
Not to everybody’s taste it has to be said, but you can now find a wide variety of pet clothing that will help your pooch or feline friend stand out from the crowd. You can get festively inspired costumes, with all the bells and whistles you’d expect. For the style conscious there are high end fashionable designs, with a similarly impressive price tag, that can be bought to keep your pet standing out from the crowd - and looking fabulous of course. If you don’t particularly enjoy the thought of dressing up your pet this Christmas, then why not go a litte more subdued (or perhaps not) and practical by getting them a shiny new collar. It may be as a replacement for an old, worn collar or just a special treat for Christmas, whatever the reason and whatever the design; a collar for Christmas is the perfect gift for your pet. We all enjoy the festivities of the Christmas period, but that should certainly not be to the detriment of our pet’s health and happiness. If you have a new kitten or puppy, you might want to consider getting pet insurance. Whilst puppy insurance probably isn’t high on the excitement factor, it is important that you look forward to your pet’s long-term future too, especially if your pet has been bought, or recently purchased for a family member this year. kitten insurance is available too, just so your little cat isn’t left out in the cold this festive period. Comfort is also important, so you might want to get a new basket for your pet to enjoy. Practical it may be, some might even say a little uninspired, but it is something that your pet should really enjoy and, due to the current developments in both design and styling, you should be able to find something that satisfies both of your individual requirements - comfort and blending in with the rest of its surroundings.
An animal’s health should always be a major consideration, so don’t forget that they aren’t human. You can’t feed them like you would a child or an adult; for example most can’t, and certainly shouldn’t, have normal chocolate. Numerous leading brands have developed special treats that will bring a smile to your pet’s face, but won’t upset their unique metabolism; so why not consider one of these as an extra special gift this Christmas.
