When you want to learn how to potty train a puppy quickly and easily, following a few simple tips will get you started. It will be important that you not yell at your puppy or rub their nose in a mess. Puppies do not learn from this kind of discipline. They often will get more confused about where they are supposed to do because everywhere they sniff, they will smell the mess, which tells their brain that it is okay to go in that spot.

Some people decide to paper train their puppy before moving the training to the out of doors. However, this often makes the training process longer and more confusing for the dog. Starting you puppy with outdoor potty training will be a great way to start proper training. If you plan on training your dog to go outside to go potty, you will not have to worry about moving newspaper slowly toward the door as you try to get them to go outside.

set a schedule for potty time that includes when you get up, right after they eat or drink, after play time, and right before bed. Getting your dog used to a potty schedule will cut down on accidents and make training much easier. You also want to avoid giving your puppy food or snacks two hours before bedtime. Night time snacks usually create a morning mess.

When you puppy starts sniffing and turning in circles it wants to go outside. Pick your puppy up and say, “Time to go potty”, then take them out to go. If they go, praise the puppy, if they don’t, just let them in and try to catch them again when they start sniffing again.

When there is a mess, and there will be, clean it up immediately and use a deodorizer to remove any odor from the floor or carpet. If you praise the dog when you take it out, whether or not it goes potty, and ignore it when it makes an indoor mess, it will quickly connect the praise with doing it’s business outside.

Cues are one of the greatest tips for potty training. If you feed your dog canned food, then you are already aware that they will come the minute they hear the can opener. Use this technique as a training tool. Using a bell or timer set it for 45 minutes or an hour and when the bell rings, put the puppy outside to go potty.

A great way to put a twist on this tip is to use a little silver bell instead of a timer. When you dog gets use to going outside when it hears the bell, hang the bell near the door. When the dog needs to go outside, it will ring the bell to alert you. This is a great timesaving way to housebreak your dog and make sure that it gets out whenever it needs to. When you are looking for puppy potty training tips you will find that there are many ways to incorporate puppy housebreaking with other tricks that you can teach your dog. Making housebreaking a fun experience will be a great experience for both you and your dog.

The buzz in the news over the last few months regarding the Swine Flue (knowns as H1N1 influenza) alarmed me on whether my two West White Terriers, Bogie ad Bacall are in danger. The cat had developed signs of a respiratory infection after several people in its family were ill.

She always encourage to keep an eye on your pet’s health and communicate with your veterinarian if you suspect anything to be of concern. Always best to nip something in the bud rather than to let it progress and risk your pet being uncomfortable or even suffering.

It bears much serious threat although canine influenza is more common in dogs than H1N1. Canine influenza can pass directly from one dog to another, and it has the unfortunate ability to spread quickly through anywhere there is a population of dogs, such as rescue organizations, kennels, or greyhound racing facilities.

Sometimes pneumonia is a fatal complication of canine influenza. It has been reported that its mortality is approximately 10%.

I felt a little silly bringing this up at first, but Dr. Frick assured me that it is always smart to ask questions when it comes to the safety of our pets. Homing a new Greyhound or Lurcher

Greyhounds and Lurchers are generally wonderful, gentle pets that enjoy nothing more than lots of of cuddles plus a fluffy down comforter to sleep upon. They’re loyal toward their keepers and love treats like a peaceful 20 minute stroll two times every day. Exercise is important for greyhounds so they ought to be given space to run and also play. Good masters will also support the general health and fitness of the greyhound or lurcher by just providing their pet quality, specialist greyhound food.

Sadly a few of these extraordinary pups also have an unfortunate beginning in life, generally having been used for racing or even hunting, after that when their “usefulness” has expired by the age of merely 4 years old the majority are eventually left unwanted, homeless or even killed. Young puppies are usually certainly common and considering their playful demeanour and cute looks it’s scarcely surprising that when people pick out a brand new family dog they will decide on a new puppy. Nevertheless, giving a home for any adult greyhound could be equally fulfilling plus most of the time a mature pet dog can make a much more suitable addition towards the household.

For all those greyhounds which were abandoned by their keepers daily life can be fairly unpleasant. The fortunate ones eventually reach the safe haven of a Rescue Centre before finding their own forever families. These kinds of Rescue Centres engage in an invaluable job simply by providing any health care required to get the dogs back to complete health and wellbeing, repair cracked bones, raise broken spirits plus reverse lost faith. There are numerous Rescue Centres in the UK so should you be seeking to own a greyhound or perhaps lurcher as a new pet make sure you try to adopt it through a rescue centre. Re-homing will certainly improve the life of the animal substantially.

Once you have brought your new family pet home you need to seriously consider the standard of food you supply it with. Greyhounds and lurchers have a specific diet so when you visit your animal medical practitioner or perhaps high quality pet retailer you will find specialist food offered specifically for these kinds of canine. Don’t end up being way too worried about the cost of any advanced good quality professional food as you will discover the actual serving sizes are usually much small compared to the equivalent supermarket purchased food. The price for each portion of the professional food will be about the same as the less expensive, supermarket type product and ultimately will be much better for your dog. A good, vet approved pet food product will be much more likely to provide your dog with the appropriate level of fibre, protein, nutritional vitamins, oils, minerals and also fats, that will lead to a strong, healthy and balanced body, bright eyes and also a rich, glossy fur.

Sometimes it could be a real challenge training your dog to do the things you want him to do and to behave in a manner that fits into your household life. If you’re lucky you might be in a position to get him into a dog training class in your area which will be very effective in helping you to straighten out problem behaviors. However, you may not wish to pay the cost of classes, or you could have such a busy schedule that attending classes is not an option. You do have another choice, though, and that would be to purchase the best dog training book on the market.

If there’s a pet store or a vet’s office nearby, stop in and visit with them about the book they would suggest. Folks working in these environments have often worked with animals themselves a great deal, or they’ve analyzed the options knowing that customers are going to ask them about good training books. Often times they will have a display of books and will be in a position to sell you one that will give you the information you are seeking.

You may browse in bookstores, both domestically and online. The benefit to looking online is that you can take advantage of the feedback other dog owners have left about various books and how useful they found them to be. Of course , simply because a book announces it’s a dog training manual on its cover, doesn’t mean that it is nicely written or even very educational. By reading the reviews left on sites like amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com, you’ll be able to see how well a selected book met the expectancies of other consumers.

You’ll want to search the reviews fastidiously and get a good subset of both what folk liked or failed to like about the book. As an example, if you’ll read the Amazon.com reviews of the book “How to Be Your Dog’s Best Friend : A Training Manual for Dog Owners”, you’ll find that while some folk actually liked the approach utilized by the authors, others thought they were utterly off base.

It will be up to you to judge whether you feel the book will give you the information you need to curtail your dog’s problem behaviour using methods you feel comfortable using. Not every book is appropriate for every dog owner and dog, and what works for one might be absolutely the wrong approach for some other person. The best dog training book is going to be the one that works the best for you.

Cat owners are tired of their pets being frequently sick and want to take charge of the situation. They are considering diet might be the culprit and some are switching to raw foods for a change. Astonishing to many doubters, these raw cats are becoming healthy.

Providing your feline with a raw diet could be just about the best thing that can be done for its health and vitality. Cats that are fed a rigorously balanced diet of raw food tend to live longer, more energetic lives and don’t seem to have the same health conditions that are plaguing many cats these days as a consequence of consuming cooked food and rotting meat.

Cooked cat food is frequently made from animals that died from disease or reject animal parts of animals that were fed steroids and hormones. This commercial food has often been observed to be tarnished with toxins and lethal bacteria that might potentially harm your animal.

Therefore, selecting a raw food diet for your pet could be seen as a wise decision. The downside though is that going raw can be a big obligation on the part of the pet owner, especially if the animal has been mostly raised on cooked food up until now. The migration to raw can be hard, and preparing certain handmade recipes can be demanding. But the health advantages of feeding your feline friend a well-balanced raw food diet completely trump the sacrifices, also, the money savings for food and veterinary care over your pets life are totally worth it.

Raw organic cat food is generally available, but it can be costly, so most raw foodists choose to make their own by following recipes. As an alternate choice, there are supplements that could be added to fresh ground beef or cut beef chunks and water which can provide all the balanced nourishment your pet requires to flourish. These ‘all-in-one’ kind of products are extremely convenient, but won’t be thought about as pure and as fresh as making it yourself following a recipe at home. The supplements work perfectly for plenty raw foodists, but others like to prepare it all fresh themselves from the beginning, giving them total control of all the ingredients and the production. In addition, there are others who do not wish to use animal flesh in any way.

You can quickly find raw cat food dishes online that may match your needs and budget plus meet the nutritive requirements of your cats. When making your own, it’s important to chop up the plant material fully so that is readily digested by your cat. It has been recommended that raw cat food is best made with just above ground vegetables, perhaps with carrots being the only exception to the rule. Herbs might be used in a number of cases but should be added in little amounts in the adjustment time frame. Info concerning plant mashing devices and any other tools you could need is generally included with the recipes that have to have them.

This probably sounds like plenty of work and money, but if there is even an ounce of reality to the health advantages of “being raw”, and your feline friend really means something to you, the labor of love is most certainly worth it.

I had just adopted Shakira, a beautiful little long-haired Chihuahua, and a couple of weeks into our new relationship we still had not learned to get along. Shakira’s character was aggressive and seemed do not want me around. Despite the trainings she had before I brought her home, she kept continuing to have accidents in the house. Equine Arthritis

The anxiety this little dog is causing has become too unbearable to tolerate. A message forum is something I am not familiar with but I said OK. We sat down and Shyla’s fingers flew. Within a few minutes, we were scrolling through some comments made by people who happened to live here in the area. Several people discussed the great details of positive results they got when they brought their pets to Midwest Microcurrent.

Next morning came, I called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ava Frick at Midwest Microcurrent. When Shakira and I visited the clinic, I found Dr.Frick to be very warm and felt like she had found her calling in working with pets.

We discussed Shakira’s behavior and Dr. Frick asked me if I had ever given any thought to the idea that Shakira was suffering from anxiety. I never thought nor dreamed that pets would feel anxiety while I was worried of my own anxiety.

I told Dr. Frick and she agreed that I do not want to give my dog any canine anti-depressants. She believes on holistic alternatives in treating pet anxiety or animal depression. Her course of treatment for Shakira was the Alpha-Stim Control System over any type of medication. My dog began to calm down in a few hours on the first treatment.

I decided to buy a home version of the Alpha-Stim and thought it would be a worthy investment since it takes more than an hour each way when driving to Dr. Frick’s clinic and Shakira would be needing more treatment. Shakira continues to improve and I found it easy to use. We are now bestfriends and her bahavior has improved as well. Animal Cranial Electrotherpay Stimulation

The new puppy was a handsome creature and displayed the finest traits to be found in a golden retriever at least in appearance. But trying to live with the poorly behaved animal was proving to be trying at best and miserable on the days that she would mind nothing that was said to her. Melinda got out the phone book and looked up dog training Philadelphia area and attempted to find a puppy obedience center nearby. She discovered one that was fairly close to where she lived and she picked up the phone and made an appointment before she decided she did not want to invest the time and money into her puppy. She sensed she really did not have a choice if she wanted to continue to keep this puppy and had any hope of making her into the kind of pet that other people would enjoy. She had used this kind of puppy instruction earlier that she had discovered under the listing dog training NYC area when she lived in that part of the country and she knew she could trust this branch of the same obedience school even though it had a different owner. At the time she had owned a standard poodle with a mind of his own and the school had done wonders for him. She held out hope that this would go as well with her golden retriever and teach her some puppy etiquette as soon as possible.

People like Melinda are very willing to invest money and time into forming puppies into social animals who are enjoyable members of their family. A puppy that is ill-mannered is not only a pain to have around the house but they are also a problem if they are allowed to be hostile with other people. Some ways to spot an aggressive canine are:

• Are they controlling of you or another member in your family? This can be a warning sign that the animal is obsessed with your company and does not want others to be around you. This behavior is manifested by intense barking when others come near and sometimes growling at people, even other members of the family, who want to sit beside you or carry on a conversation or otherwise engage your attention thus taking it away from them.

• Does your pet bark in a hostile manner at delivery men or visitors? This is not merely very annoying as you are attempting to conduct business with the person at the door but it also demonstrates that you have no control over animal. Your pet can lunge suddenly at the visitor and can cause anxiety and fear both to you and to your guest.

• Does your pet stare down other animals or people without breaking eye contact? This is a sign of dominance and ought to never be ignored as it can be a dangerous sign. It has been advised that a person not be the first to break eye contact with your puppy due to the fact that it can be interpreted as a relinquishing of power to that pet.

Rabbits make great pets thanks to their friendly and inquisitive nature. Many rabbits love human interaction and enjoy being held and stroked.Make sure that if you adopt a rabbit as a pet you look after it and ensure rabbit care is a priority in order for it to benefit from a long and happy life.Rabbits are easy to look after and make a great addition to any family. To ensure your rabbit is healthy and happy try and follow some of these great tips.

Your new rabbit will need a safe, clean hutch with plenty of bedding for warmth. Make sure you can afford the cost of food and ideally buy a run so it has the opportunity to run around.Make sure the hutch you buy has enough space to accommodate a full size rabbit, with space to run and stand. It should also be wide enough to allow the rabbit to hop at least four full hops in any direction.Just like your own home the ideal hutch should be separated into distinct “rooms” with a space to play, eat, and use the toilet. If you have more than one rabbit in the same hutch you will need to increase this space.Bedding is important. Rabbits like to snuggle down at night and need to be kept warm.Line the hutch with newspaper and cover with dust free chippings and straw. All the bedding should be changed regularly (a great job for the kid’s pocket money!).Take time to consider where you will be locating the hutch. You do not want to place it in areas of direct sunlight or not enough light.Cover the hutch at night with a breathable fabric so the rabbit is not confronted with any night time predators such as foxes and cats.Of course rabbits don’t want to be couped up in a hutch all day. Your rabbit would really appreciate a safe place to run and play and a rabbit run can provide this environment.

Your rabbits diet is important and you need to understand that they need 2 specific types of fibre – digestible and indigestible. This is because it goes through their digestive system twice.Foods like supermarket brand museli can be high in sugar and starch, both of which are not healthy ingredients. Try and avoid buying this food.To give your rabbit the very best chance in life feed it a specialist rabbit food product. You can buy specialist rabbit food online or through your vet.In addition to specialist food try and give your rabbit treats such as apple, banana, broccoli, celery, tomato, turnip and cabbage.

Following a few simple guidelines and understanding how to care for a rabbit before you actually adopt one will ensure you are a well prepared and competent owner.

Dog Health

Health of every critter depends on three major factors: food, physical activities and sound sleep. Let’s start with speaking about healthy food for dogs.

Problems originating in faults in feeding are widely varied. There are diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, urogenital system, cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal system and the so-called “illnesses of civilization”, infections connected with weakening of immunity, endocrine abnormalities, emotional discomfort and many other illnesses.

Food is that basis, on quality of which depends the health of your puppy.

State of health depends on functions of organs and systems, which in their turn depend on correctness of biochemical and biophysical processes in cells. Proteins, fats, carbohydrates, macrocells and trace elements, vitamins, enzymes, and hormones are necessary for normal construction and functioning of cells and tissues of an animal. Only complete set of necessary components and its optimum percentage can become a guarantee of normal functioning of an organism. During evolution process, organism of an animal learned to produce some necessary nutrients itself, but some part should be received with food. Creating a diet of dog’s feeding, especially for hunting dogs, we should take it into account.

Some time ago, taking a puppy, we knew that we need to give raw meat according to puppy’s weight and age, calcium gluconate, phytin, animal bones, and we will grow up a healthy dog.

Now, it is, unfortunately, not so easy. Meat which we give to puppies was frozen and considerable part of vitamins and other valuable substances was lost. Because of poor-quality or synthetic feeds liver cattle can be damaged, and harmful products accumulate in the muscular tissue, i.e. meat becomes toxic. For increasing muscle bulk of cattle owners use steroid hormones, and for prevention of various infections use of course the cheapest and the most toxic antibiotics. And we give this to our dogs.

Growing up a puppy (and feeding an adult dog), we always tried to give vegetables and knew that carrot is a vitamin A, a garlic segment is the selenium, promoting strengthening of immunity, and so on.

And what do we have now? Carrots of mass production hardly have any beta-carotene, in garlic there is no selenium. According to World Health Organization (WHO), about 80 % of soil is depleted, and our soil is also “rich” with salts of heavy metals, radioactive substances, and phosphoric fertilizers in toxic concentrations. And even minute, homoeopathic doses of listed substances can have a harmful influence on the organism of your dog.

We also have such a sad picture with water. Water it not only a source of life, but also a source of chemical waste. In water the salts of heavy metals, both bacteria, and simply toxic substances are also found.

But nevertheless, it is possible to grow up a healthy dog. Use only natural preparations, without synthetic additives.

Pets are not just “alive” beings that live with us, pet are a lot more important. And you are really responsible for them. Those of you who have dogs, should know info about dog health. This is not a bizarre statement, this is what your pet really needs from you.

And a real dog lover should remember today the web technologies give you a really unique chance to choose what you require for the best price on the market. Funny, but most of the people don’t use this opportunity. In real life it means that you must use all the tools of today to get the info about dog health.

Search Google and other search engines. Visit social networks and check the accounts that are relevant to your topic. Go to the niche forums and join the online discussion. All this will help you to build up a true vision of this market. Thus, giving you a real opportunity to make a smart and nicely balanced decision.

P.S. And also sign up to the RSS on this blog, because we will do the best to keep this blog tuned up to the day with new publications about “Labrador dog health” issues and other crucial topics about dogs.
