Huge Savings on the Hottest Pet Grooming supplies, Accessories Dog Brush

Categories: Tips | March 24th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Good grooming practices are essential for maintaining health and happiness for you and your dog.
Healthy skin, hair, nails and teeth are what define a well-groomed dog. Dog-grooming is the practice of caring for the appearance of a canine for personal or showing purposes. Dog-grooming rituals include washing, hair clipping and cutting, nail clipping, powdering, hair styling and teeth cleaning. Grooming is important for your pet and is aesthetically pleasing to owners. It helps cut down on shedding and smelling, but will also lead to healthy skin, hair, nails and teeth for your dog. Grooming is also a great way to cut down on allergies and infections for both pets and their owners.
Grooming is sometimes difficult. Cleaning, brushing and clipping your dog while also trying to keep them calm can be a challenge for any dog owner. However, sometimes a good set of grooming tools can make the job much easier. Look into a good dog brush that thoroughly brushes as well as trims out excess hair. This will help you get to tasks done at once. If you don’t feel up to Grooming your pets yourself, there are hundreds of dog groomers who would love to pamper your pooch for an afternoon.

But it’s better to do and do your own pet grooming. This is a great way to bond with your pet as well, and if they like the whole grooming thing then they’ll be your slave every time you even bring up mention of the words pet grooming.
It is a special bonding time between you and your dog. You can also use this time to check your dog’s health. Look carefully for signs of fleas, ticks, skin irritations, lumps or painful spots. Check your dog’s eyes, ears and teeth regularly. Consult your veterinarian if you find anything unusual or concerning. It’s important to get him used to it from an early age. Many dogs learn to see their routine brushing as an alternate petting, another source of affection and attention. A good quality Dog brush and comb will help you with your dog’s coat, but also remember that your dog’s eyes, ears, and nails require attention as well.
The main reasons for daily grooming include:
• Enhanced health of the skin and coat
• Reduces the chance of various health problems such as thrush, scratches, and other skin problems
• Make the dog hygienic
• Allows the groomer to check the dog’s health, such as looking for cuts, heat, swelling, lameness, or a change in temperament (such as depression) which could indicate the dog is sick
• And the important reason is it helps to form a relationship between dog and owner

Using Pet Crates To Train Your Puppy

Categories: Training | March 24th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Keys To Make Training With pet cages More Effective

When it comes to teaching your new pet to have the desired behavior, there are many benefits that are offered through crate training your new puppy. This type of training will also create a place that is safe and secure for the puppy to sleep and rest, a place that is all his own. This will be the perfect place for him to go when you need to place your concentration else where. Other benefits are those of teaching your pet not to chew on such things as shoes, furniture or even your bedspread.

One of the most valuable benefits is that of housebreaking your pet. By using this method to housebreak your pet, they learn from a very early age not to do their business in the same area as their sleeping area. This will teach him to hold his urges to go until he is in the appropriate environment. This training is very effective.

Purchasing The Right Pet Cage Or Crate For Your Pet

Before you bring your new pet home, it is recommended that you look for the best deal on pet store cages first. This will allow your pet to get used to his surroundings and area from the very beginning making the training much easier. Before purchasing the crate for your pet, you want to make sure that it is the best one suited for the pet it is going to be housing. It needs to be able to house him properly, he needs room to sit, lie and stand as well as turn around in. however, you want to make sure that it isn’t so big that he turns one corner into his own personal latrine.

One great type of pet cage is one that will grow as your puppy does. This type of crate has removable dividers that can be removed as needed to give your puppy the room that he needs to move around. You can place a blanket as a sleeping area for your pet and even include a chew toy. You want to place any food or water for the puppy on the outside of the crate in a separate area.

Once you bring your new pet home, do not place him immediately into the cage. Instead let him wander around and get used to his surroundings and let him venture into the area on his own. This is the most effective way for him to be trained.

When Should You Use Your Puppy crate Training

Within the first few hours of your new puppy being in your home, he should be well accustomed to his crate. Once this has been established, you can confine for overnight sleep or short periods of time when it is difficult to keep an eye on him. Unless confining for a good nights sleep, you should never keep your puppy confined within the pet cage for more than a few hours at a time.

During the daytime, make sure that you take your pet out regularly, as he may have to go to the bathroom more frequently. In many cases when a pet is confined to the space of a crate at very early ages that they are not sociable to others or other animals. For this reason, do not neglect to spend some quality time playing and cuddling with your puppy.

Using canine cages is very effective in housebreaking your pet. It can also be used for aggressive puppy training as it can teach them what they can and cannot chew on. Remember that your pets , just as humans require love and attention. Do not substitute the use of the pet cage for quality time with mans best friend.

What The Heck Is Raw Dog Food?

Categories: Training | March 22nd, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Raw dog food does not mean “straight from the can or bag.” It’s a little more complicated than that. Dog food in cans, bags and pouches have been processed in factories. The meat started from animals that went to the abattoir, then the meat goes to the processing plant’s machines, gets mixed with a whole bunch of other stuff and then goes into the bag or can for your store’s shelves.

Raw dog food is raw food, whether meat or vegetables as well as butchers’ bones, given to the dog in complete substitution for commercially prepared dog food to Feed The Dog. This way of feeding is usually known as the BARF diet (Bones And Raw Foods) and its proponents say it is a more natural diet for a dog.

Would I Give It To My Dog?

This writer strongly does not recommend the BARF diet for any pet dog. It is better than not getting fed at all, but commercially prepared foods do have the balanced nutrition that raw dog food often lacks. Dogs are seen as basically carnivores on the raw dog food diet. They are not. They are omnivores – just like us. Dogs can not only survive but thrive on a vegetarian diet, unlike cats that quickly die on vegetarian diets.

Raw dog food takes an incredible amount of time to prepare and costs a fortune. You don’t need to actually slaughter a cow yourself, but you do have to feed your dog from the butcher’s selection. You then take it out of the package and give it to the dog – although small dogs, older dogs or dogs with bad teeth need their raw dog food pureed or minced.

One of the arguments for raw dog food is that you don’t have to worry about any pet food recalls. However, human grade food is not without its problems. And raw meat is susceptible to parasites and illnesses like salmonella that can get your dog very sick. Raw bones tend to splinter, which can choke your Healthy Dog. They also are subject to containments unless they are cooked before giving to the dog.

It’s Not Nice To Second-Guess Mother Nature

Is processed commercial dog food the diet ancient dogs from millennia ago ate? Obviously not. But times have changed – and so has the nature and nutritional needs of the domestic dog. Dogs are now more dependent on human care than ever. A Pekingese would not last two minutes in the wild. Since we created the dogs, we have to feed them what they need, as opposed to what we think their ancestors needed to avoid dog health problems.

Essential Dog Training Supplies

Categories: Training | March 20th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Training your dog can be a fun and rewarding experience. Not only do they get to learn a slew of exciting new tricks, you get the satisfaction of seeing your dog’s natural intelligence and athleticism in action.

From the most fundamental sit command to chasing down a Frisbee or rolling over, you are going to need a few training supplies to get you started.

Training Supplies You’ll Need

There are a number of supplies every dog owner should have on hand when they start training their dogs. Here are a few examples to get you started:

Bitter Training Aids – If your dog has problems with chewing, licking, or biting things that shouldn’t be in their mouth, a good option is to use a spray that makes those things taste bitter. It is completely safe and most dogs will give up after a couple bites of something even they can tell tastes awful.

Special Leashes – Some dogs might need special leashes, chain collars, chokers, or leads as you teach them how to walk on a leash. Don’t get anything that could be too tight or dangerous for your dog, but for larger puppies or dogs you might be training, plan accordingly.

Harnesses and Muzzles – If your dog is particularly strong, has a thick neck and likes to escape or has issues with snapping at other dogs or people while on a leash, a harness or muzzle might be necessary while training.

Clickers and Whistles – To train your dog in basic commands, one of the most popular methods is to use as clicker or whistle as a trigger. These simple tools, of pretty much any brand are cheap and work wonders for teaching your dog how to associate the noise with a positive reward. Clicker training works great when training your puppy.

Treats – In conjunction with the clicker or whistle, treats help you reward your dog for a job well done. When they start to associate an action with a positive behavior, you can replace the treat with your praise and eventually they will simply do it to please you.

Other Fun Stuff – Your dog might be perfect for agility runs, or for learning to catch Frisbees. If so, pick up poles, jumps or small toys that you can train them with. Especially for herding dogs and retrievers this kind of training is a great way to get them the exercise they are probably not getting around the house while working their minds.

Implementing Your Training Supplies

Proper training starts with knowing how your dog needs to be trained. Some dogs are eager to learn but too excited. These dogs need to be calmed so they can give you their complete attention. Focus on sit and stay, heeling, and generally providing focus. Puppies can often have a hard time with this, so don’t become impatient if your dog has trouble focusing on you during training.

When you properly use your training supplies in a way that allows your dog the opportunity to learn and showcase what they have learned while also working their brain and being fair to their intellect, both you and your pet can have fun. Pick up the right supplies, use them carefully and effectively, and who knows, your dog could be doing tricks in no time.

Other than dog training supplies you will most likely need some quality dog grooming supplies to help keep your dog in optimal health and physical condition.

Know the Responsibilities that Come With Dogs

Categories: Behavior Issues | March 20th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

After getting a puppy, most owners have trouble with house obedience training. A lot of work must be invested in new pets. There are many businesses that offer working dog training and obedience classes. Taking your pets to these classes is valuable for the pet and master. New pets are hard to take care of. Pets are a lot of work, but are rewarding. Animals are a big responsibility; one must think carefully before buying a dog.

Many people do not think about their ways before buying dogs. They do not think about the hidden costs that come with pets. Along with the purchase of the animal itself, one must consider the cost of food. Pet food is often quite expensive and one must be conscientious of the specific requirements of their pet. There are special dog chow for large breeds, small breeds, old age, and specific health problems. In addition to the types of chow, one should always check the ingredients. Some dog food use meat as the main component, however the majority of brands try to conserve funds by making corn the main component. The food that corn is the major component is usually less expensive but is not as good for your pet.

Often times, when a dog is not taught correctly, the owners believe they cannot take care of it anymore. These pets are often abandoned and are sent into shelters. It is sad to see this happen. When people do not take the time to care for their animals, problems occur. Many good animals end up at Humane Societies, pounds, and SCPAs because of the inadequate teachings of their masters. The owners fail to teach the pets how to behave and then take the easy way out. When they abandoned their pets, they are not taking responsibility of their actions. They are merely passing their problems onto someone else.

The animals that are left at the shelters are often still young but not young enough for many prospective owners. Most people want really young dogs so that they are easier to train and therefore many people overlook these abandoned dogs. These dogs are not past their prime, however. They can still be trained and make great companions. Often time people pass these dogs up because they appear to be difficult, but they really just need a good, caring home. Since many people pass by these good creatures, they spend a long time in the shelters making it more difficult for them to be taken in and trained.

When considering the purchase of a dog, be sure to consider all the factors that go into owning an animal. There are unexpected expenses of food and upkeep. Be sure to remember to have patience when teaching your puppy. It may seem difficult at first, but remember that it is worthwhile. Teaching your dog to stay off the furniture and pee outside requires patience. If you are having trouble training your pet, remember that there are many people and organizations that are willing to help. People need to be sure that they can care for an animal before they purchase it, otherwise a lot of good animals will be put into pounds instead of caring homes.

There are 3 basic things your dog should learn through basic dog training. These are: sit, stay, and come. The first part of dog training is to teach your dog to sit. To start this dog training, you will first need some dog treats.

Do this dog training in a quiet environment so your dog doesn’t get distracted. Tell your dog to sit repeatedly as you hold the dog treat just over their head. This way the dog has to look up and may sit on there own to reach the treat.

Basic Orders To Use In Training Your Dog - Get Useful Tips

Categories: Tips | March 12th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Training your dog is certainly a way of ensuring that it acts in a disciplined and reasonable method. Dog training certainly is a process that involves a series of well-articulated commands repeated constantly enough for a dog to get used to and respond to. There are countless aspects of dog training. However, obedience dog training is a fundamental training process that a dog must go through first. It is the desire of all dog owners’ that their dogs obey their directive. Once you can train your dog to obey, every other thing falls into place.

In obedience dog training, there are five basic commands or behaviors that a dog is taught. They are:

- Down: This directive is commonly uttered to calm an especially exuberant dog. Your dog may be the overly excited kind that loves to paw folks, lunge at them or even tug at their clothes. Teaching a dog to stay down when you order it to can assist to keep its excesses in check. The ‘down’ directive is certainly a position of subservience the dog adopts when it is being excessive in its behavior.

- Sit: You can train your dog to sit down in a exact place. This directive is good for situations where you can’t go into exact places with your dog. Teaching your dog to sit down and stay put while you shop or get something prevents it from wandering off and getting lost.

- Stay: The stay directive is almost similar to the sit directive except that you use it in situations where you are going to leave your dog alone for an exceptionally long period of time.

- Recall: Calling your dog to you is a directive that establishes you as the master. The recall directive is produced to call your dog’s attention to you and to get it to come to where you are.

- Close or loose leash walking: You need to teach your dog how to respond to a leash. One basic dog-training tool, the leash enables you to do a variety of things ranging from walking your dog to correcting your dog. A dog that isn’t used to a leash may not be able to respond favorably to your other commands.

Each of these commands is executed using different words depending on the dog trainer. Use words that your dog will easily comprehend and get used to.

Simple Dog Litter Box Training

Categories: Training | March 5th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

It really is quite simple to litter box train a dog. Most people dread this aspect of being a dog owner. Training a puppy or older dog is as easy as training a cat to use a litter box. Before reviewing the 3 steps to successful litter box training for your pooch, there are a few things that you always need to keep in mind when training or disciplining a dog. You need to know your dogs level of training and any bad habits they have developed. Always know that a dogs ability to be trained sometimes is decided by a dogs breed. Some breeds are willing to train while others are not as compliant and harder to train. These canines can take a bit more time but they can be trainable.

Lets begin with litter box training dogs with the system itself. The Ugodog dog litter box is constructed of sturdy material that will withstand a respectable amount of weight. What separates this system apart from other ones is that its top grates are uniquely designed to be kind to sensitive doggy paws. The way the grates are designed is innovative as to not cut into the bottom of the paw pads. Also, the grate holes are little enough so that even the tiniest dogs will not get their paws trapped. The grates also are two separate pieces to allow for easier clean up. This system is environmentally friendly, sturdy, low cost and no replacement parts to purchase! That is why this is my pet potty pick.

When potty training your pooch, remember that age can be a factor. That said, even older dogs can be trained to use dog litter boxes. You do not need expensive supplies for this system to work. Some owners may choose to use pee pads underneath the grates but this can be expensive and makes the product less of a green products. Newspaper is a much better choice. Once the dog is trained to use the system, you do not even need newspaper. You can just dump the urine at the end of the day in the toilet and discard any poo that is on top of the grates.

Dog Training tips as easy as 1-2-3:

1) Put the dog litter box in an area that your dog is accustomed to going on pee pads or if they are use to going outside, put it where you would like.
2) Place a paper towel that you have soaked in your dogs urine beneath the grates.
3) When your pup needs to go take them to the litter box and they will know their own scent and begin to go potty there!

Do not use negative reinforcement with your dog when training them. Use the same words repeatedly that you use to command them to go potty. Some dogs may be shy at first and have accidents. If they do, when you clean up the accident use that urine soaked paper towel to put under the grate and take your dog over to the potty after an accident. The Ugodog indoor dog potty will make your life and your dogs life simpler. You will not be dealing with pee soaked paws or ripped up pee pads. Do not forget that furry little friend still need exercise. So do not eliminate walks.
