Categories: Training | June 30th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Does your dog still have difficult issues like barking at complete strangers, jumping, or wetting on the floor? Trainers who specialize in dog obedience training can help guide you and your best friend, learn how to accomplish the task. dog sitting is also very important at this stage because everyone watching the dog needs to be on the same page, to get the proper results. pet care is a very original occupation, but it can be very hard, so use your resources!

Dog obedience training involves your dog, a specialized trainer, and a lot of useful tricks of the trade that you may not have available to you. Dog training is a long process but if it is repeated and practiced in and out of home, good things can come out of it. Finally your dog may bay be able to control jumping everywhere, or maybe he will now stop chewing on that chair. Training your dog may be the best thing that you can do and what you can do for your whole family.

When you go outside, just like a child, dogs think that the rules are somehow lifted from the premises and they no longer apply to them. A helpful tool for that would be to hire a dog sitter, one who really knows you and your dog and one who can show you how to handle your dog even in the worst situations. Your dog sitter should be able to get your dog to obey and follow direction just as well as you can, just to make all of your lives a little bit easier.

Pet care is an extremely important job and it can take up a lot of time during your day as well as a lot of hard word from your end of the bargain. Dogs are a lot like children, so handling a new puppy and all of its baggage can be a hard task to handle if you are not ready. Again, just like children they will destroy things, make messes tear up the house, and ultimately enrage you but ultimately in the end, they are an extremely fun little friend to have in your home. Puppies, although they are fun to play with, they require as much work as a child. This means that it is necessary for you to bath them and take them out and feed them and play games with them all day.

Owning abehaving dog is a rewarding asset to show off toeveryone who sees, because a dog that listens to its master is not only a smart dog but one that can learn to do more and more each day. Puppies and grown dogs are a lot of fun, but they require constant training, so if you do not think that you can handle all of the responsibilities alone, then you may want to look into a dog trainer or a sitter or someone who can just play with your dog and take care of them the way that you would take care of them.

If your dog leaps on your friends or barks at pedestrians that are innocently passing by, then there is a problem. If your dog is uncontrollable no matter what you do, then there is also a problem. If your pet isliving in the house like this, then there is an issue with how your dog obeys your commands and how well you make the rules known. Onethought about your pet that is extremely important to many pet owners is the way that the animal seems to be towards other people. Leave Your Precious Pet in Doggy Day Care

Categories: Tips | June 24th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

For many of us our dogs are like members of the family and feel like our children. We would do anything to keep them safe and happy. We would never dream of leaving our children alone all day while mommy and daddy go to work or on vacation. Luckily, now our pets can get the same kind of care and supervision that they deserve. While some dog boarding Seattle facilities offer routine services while you are away, other dog boarding Everett locations are run more like hotels than kennels. No matter what level of service you desire for your pet, you can say goodbye to the guilt that you feel when you leave your little buddy behind.

Many might think that day care for dogs is totally unnecessary and that pet owners are simply spoiling their animals. Still others might believe that dog owners would prefer to pay someone else to take care of their pet so they don’t have to deal with some of the messy inconveniences that come with caring for an animal. However, anyone that lives with them knows that dogs are social animals and like humans they need to interact with others of their kind as well as humans regularly. Just as a person becomes sad and feels lonely when living a solitary life, dogs experience the same kind of emotions when left behind day after day. Much like young children, dogs are not able to understand why their family cannot spend all their time with them.

When dogs are left alone on regular basis, they become unhappy, frustrated and bored. If they are not allowed to get the exercise and companionship that they need, dogs may even exhibit destructive behaviors. They will chew up anything they can find. Other dogs can develop and suffer from separation anxiety and end up barking or crying for hours while they wait for their owner to come home. Not only is it an emotional issue but it can negatively affect their health as well. For total well being, dogs need more than food, water and kisses.

Before choosing where to take your pet, it is recommended that you take a tour and ask questions until you are satisfied that the facility is up-to-date, clean and that the staff is qualified. At the quality dog care facilities, dogs enjoy a fun and healthy atmosphere where they participate in play groups with other dogs and interact with people. Most of their time is spent running, playing with toys and balls and napping— not locked up in a cage. Being part of a pack of dogs provides them a social outlet where social skills are increased and good manners can be observed and reinforced. In addition to obedience training, many day care centers offer veterinary and dental care and full-service grooming.

Making sure your dog is well cared for when you are away is just as important as caring for your child. Let the trained professionals look after your furry friend and love them like you do and you’ll be assured to pick up a relaxed, calm and happy dog at the end of the day.

Guidelines to Managing A Dog Daycare

Categories: Training | June 19th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

With more families working long hours and taking extended vacations, there seems to be more demand for full-service dog boarding Snohomish and daily pet care than ever before. But in order to make a venture into dog boarding Bellevue a successful one, there are many important things that must be considered before beginning an expensive undertaking as this. Here is a helpful guide that breaks down much of the information into several general areas.

It would be impossible to open any business without the appropriate insurance. It is necessary to find an insurance company that specializes in providing policies specifically designed to cover small pet businesses. Insurance will protect your business and additionally it will be required by the landlord if you lease a property for your business.

If building a brand new facility is your dream, then be prepared to hand over the majority of your initial start-up funds. It is vital to check with the Better Business Bureau before signing any contracts. When it comes to choosing a contractor, you often get what you pay for so this is not an area where getting a great deal is wise.

Any business will require the basic office equipment such as desks, chairs, filing cabinets, phones, stationary, a computer and fax machine. IThe no frills approach will still get the job done. If you are resourceful you should be able to find gently used items from stores specializing in used office furniture and equipment.

Luckily there are many options available for office managing software that is designed specifically for pet daycare businesses. The computer software will allow you to manage customer accounts and track check-ins and check-outs. Although the software is a little expensive, you cannot expect the business to survive without it as there is too much to keep track of. You simply cannot afford to be unable to find client information and payment records.

Some basic cleaning supplies which are necessary to keep the facility presentable and sanitary are bleach, buckets, mops, window cleaner, rags, plastic bags, vacuum, broom and bags for doggy doo. Try to use cleaners that are as natural as possible and stay away from harsh chemicals that potentially could irritate some dogs.

One effective approach to start attracting customers and generating revenue is to offer grooming services to your daycare business. You’d be surprised at how much inexpensive grooming equipment as dryers, tables and tubs can be found on popular online auction websites. Many groomers will be glad to work part-time and split the commission.

Without advertising and signage, no one will know you are open for business. It is important to utilize many types of media to get the word out. Take advantage of free advertising like leaving fliers at pet stores and getting a story printed in a local magazine highlighting your new business. Advertizing in the newspaper is a very cost effective way of promoting your business. To compete in the current market, you must have an informative and completely functional website before your grand opening.

Even if you plan carefully and everything goes off without a hitch, you need to have enough cash to be able to operate for at least six months without making a profit. Just keep at it to build a solid client base and before you know it you’ll be the proud owner of an outstanding dog daycare.

Animal Overpopulation Means Death

Categories: Tips | June 19th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Last week the Prescott Humane Society held a poodle dress fundraiser. There was fun, games, t-shirts, promotional pens or promotional pen for those interested. This is the fourth year of the fundraiser. Its purpose is raise awareness about animal cruelty, responsible pet ownership, and to raise funds for shelters.

Most people love dogs and cats. We spend a lot of money on them, spending billions and billions on food and other supplies for them as a nation every year. But every year in the United States millions of cats and dogs are given up to shelters and to the streets, where most die. Pet Overpopulation is everywhere. There arenot enough pet shelters, only about 5000 pet shelters in the whole of the U.S. While it is great news that shelters are able to take in 7 million cats and dogs every year, only half of these will find good homes from the shelter. The rest are euthanized, a sad fact that accompanies the fact that pet shelters do not have the capability to take in so many animals.

to prevent further overpopulation, we must take drastic measures to protect them from what they cannot protect themselves against: themselves. It is up to us to institute sterilization programs so that we can control the population. Cats and dogs reproduce much faster than humans. Cats can have as many as 3 litters a year of 4-6 kittens and dogs can give birth twice a year and have 6-10 puppies. Population can increase exponentially. Sterilization programs can prevent a lot of unwanted animals, and in areas where such programs have been started there has been a dramatic 30-60 percent decrease in the number of animals in shelters that need to be euthanized.

There are many complex parts that need to be taken into consideration when implementing such a plan. The community needs to get involved, local veterinarians, educational session and campaigns, and subsidized clinics. Laws can be passed to ensure that animals are sterilized , or increasing the cost of a license for an animal that is not spayed or neutered.

There are great consequences if action is not taken. There are too many animals crowding the shelters. Some animal shelters have become huge holding areas for dogs and cats waiting to die. This widespread cruelty to animals encourages and permits cruelty everywhere. Strays can disrupt neighborhoods, scaring or biting people, getting into trash cans, and scaring away wildlife. We can prevent dog bites by sterilizing. Dangerous dogs can be a result of overpopulation or breeding that disregards the dogs temperament. Instead of trying to deal with the consequences of overpopulation, we need to eliminate the problem from its roots. Sterilize your pets.

Dog Beds and How to select the right One.

Categories: Tips | June 15th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Isn’t it so cute to see your pet curl up and snooze somewhere comfortable? If you love your dog so much and you want to ensure that they enjoy their time in the home it is not such a bad idea to buy a dog bed for them so that they can snuggle up and stretch out in comfort. After an active day running and playing and trying to please you, your dog will love nothing more than to retire to his special place and curl up for a well earned rest. Dogs love their individual spaces and like to sleep and recoup their energies and they sure love any place that is comfortable and warm and which is also noise-free.

A Means Of Training

We all know it’s not really a good idea to let your dog sleep with you, and by providing a nice dog bed, it’s a good way of helping you with his training. All you need to do is make sure you provide a really comfy bed for your dog to use. Soon you’ll start to see how much your dog loves it, because she’ll always want to rest in it.

Don’t under estimate the importance for a dog to sleep in the same spot each night. While it’ll be easy to simply make up your own doggy bed, you needn’t bother because there are just so many dog beds you could get over the Internet.

Just before you run out and start looking for a dog bed, you will need to carefully select one that suits your dogs sleeping behavior. There are just so many dog beds to choose from, such as nesting, bolster, round or even orthopedic dog beds, it’ll pay to look around at all options. Next, you need to observe how your dog sleeps. Does he cuddle up or is he given to sprawling all over the place? For the former type of sleep habit you should pick cuddler dog beds while for the latter type you would require giving him a large mat.

It is also necessary that you pick the dog bed according to how well it can accommodate your dog. You need to choose the size that can easily accomodate your dog to keep her comfy. For a toy sized dog you might be able to make-do with a small bed that has thin padding while for a robust Doberman or a Husky you would need to purchase a big sized bed that has heavy padding and which allows your pet to stretch out comfortably. There are size guides available to help you, but selecting a bed just a little bigger than the size of your dog would be a wise choice.

Of the many types of dog beds, some of the more popular ones are, orthopedic dog beds, bolster dog beds, pillow dog beds, and even memory foam dog beds. Another thing you should look out for, is to make sure the bed you select can be easily washed. Another feature to consider is a dog bed filled with some cedar, as cedar has been known to re[el fleas, and this could certainly be handy in the warmer months. Lastly, you’ll need to consider whether you need an indoor or outdoor dog bed, and also you should consider the space you have available to put your doggy bed.

Which Animal Is the Perfect Addition to Your Family

Categories: Tips | June 13th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

Pets have always and will always be an important part to many cultures. Anyone who has had a pet knows the feeling of warmth and care that an animal can give to a family. All the time and effort that goes into maintaining a pet is certainly worth it in the love and affection paid back by the animal. Some of the more popular pets in the Western world include dogs, cats, birds and marine life like fish or turtles. Sometimes though the family members have problems and have to be treated for health issues. For example, dogs occasionally have issues and get dog arthritis and dog diarrhea. When the dog gets sick they cost money to take care of. However, as previously stated any animal that gets sick generally makes it worth the families while by being a good pet and having a long, happy life.

One of the commonly known animals to own as a pet is a cat. Cats are known as being far more aloof than their canine counterparts and therefore are probably not quite as popular. However, many cats buck that trend and love affection and attention from their owners. Cats come in all shapes and sizes but usually have mass of an average of nine to eleven pounds. Some of the most popular kinds of cats in the country are the Persian, Siamese, and Maine Coon cats. Cats are generally to be fed twice a day and on the plus side they typically have less energy and need less exercise than other types of pets.

Another popular pet in the Western hemisphere is the bird. Birds are somewhat simpler than cats. While they sometimes might want to fly around the house a little bit, they generally just sit in their cages. Also, as far as feeding goes birds need less food and don’t consume a lot of food. One could probably effectively feed a bird just by leaving some bird seed in a bowl in it’s cage, leaving the bird to pick atthe food as it chooses. A well known kind of bird to own is the parrot. Parrot’s generally squawk a lot and sometimes picks out phrases to yell from the owner, which could get annoying to families with foul mouths. So remember, only kind language around the bird.

Finally, some marine life are very popular in Western cultures. Some people have in their home a group of fish or a turtle or something that they have taken on as a pet. The downside to having marine life as a pet is that they are typically very much less responsive and interactive than a cat or other mammal would be. This could make the pet somewhat boring and less lovable in the eyes of certain pet owners. However, for those looking for an animal that’s easy to take care of, a turtle or fish could be just the kind of pet they want.

Pets are an integral aspect of every culture around the world. Everyone who has had an animal as a pet knows the deep connection felt between animal and human. Hopefully that is something that never changes around the globe.

How Does an Invisible Dog Fence Stop a Dog Escaping Over The Fence?

Categories: Training | June 8th, 2009 | by Kenny | no comments

The invisible dog fence does what it says on the tin, you can’t see it. But it does a good job at keeping your dog in the backyard. The main characteristic of an invisible dog fence is, you can set a boundary where your dog can stroll around in.

Get the latest price and availability by visiting wireless fence.

The invisible dog fence is used for two main applications. The main use for the dog fence is to prevent your furry friend from escaping from your yard area. You know the type of dog we are talking about, they can jump and even climb fences, squeeze through the smallest gap or dig tunnels beneath the fence. These types of pets are very difficult to corral in a backyard. What can you do, you can go out and spend many hundreds of dollars on security fences, which are very high, they have to go underground and can ruin your vista.

The 2nd scenario is if you want to restrict your dog from a certain part of your yard, for example, if your dog has a favorite place where it likes to go to toilet and it is killing your lawn or you may want to restrict your dog’s movements to a specific part of your backyard. There is a lovely benefit of a wireless fence if you have an RV and like to go traveling with your dog. Because a wireless fence can be set up instantly, when you reach your destination, you can switch on the transmitter, put the collar on your dog’s neck and hey presto he can run around but won’t get lost.

The only trouble with the invisible dog fence is recognizing where the boundary is! The way it works is that you have a transmitter which sends out a radio signal or you have a wire buried underground which denotes the boundary. The dog wears an electronic collar and when it approaches the boundary the collar receives a signal and emits an audible warning bleep. Should your dog not turn back, and gets even closer to the invisible dog fence then the electronic collar will deliver a soft electric shock. This is designed to get your dog’s attention and deter him from crossing the boundary.

To help train your dog and to let you know where the invisible dog fence is, you get a set of training flags. You then place these flags at strategic points around the boundary area so your dog will learn where it can and cannot roam freely. You do not need any previous experience in training your dog as the invisible dog fence comes with detailed training, plus tips and advice.

To get up to speed with the best dog fences take a look at invisible dog fence or visit www.squidoo.com/Wireless-Fence
