The Bark Dog Collar And How It Works

Categories: Training | March 14th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Excessive dog barking can cause a hassle and annoyance for more than just you. Neighbors of people who have such dogs will eventually start to resent the dog or the dog owner, specially if the barking takes place very late at night. If you own a dog, it’s your responsibility to train your dog so that its barking doesn’t bother the people that live with you or around you.

Dogs will always bark to express whatever sensations they have, but even so, there are a few things that you can do to restrain his barking. The bark dog collar is one of the most commonly used stop barking products available on the market today.

Your Alternatives

If you have decided to get a bark dog collar for your favorite pet, then you need to decide which of the many types of collar you will get. The most well known one is the shock collar, which is a bit controversial. Like its name implies, the shock collar gives shocks to dogs when they bark, although these shocks can be compared to static electricity in intensity. These shocks are very mild, and to the dog’s skin, they aren’t painful at all, yet many animal lovers find them cruel and excessive.

If this is your case, then you can try a method that seems less harsher, like the citronella anti bark collar. The citronella anti bark collar works in exactly the same way as the shocking collar, but uses a spray of citronella smell on the dog’s muzzle instead of a shock. This is not going to harm the dog in any way and instead will stop him from barking because it will peak his curiosity.

The smell is very intense, and by nature, dogs will try to find out what’s going on. With enough time, dogs will link the barking with the citronella spray, and will learn to limit their barking whenever they are wearing the collar, Keep in mind that the anti bark dog collar will be programmed so that you can turn them off when you are going to bed at night if you want the dog to be able to alert you of burglars.

A guard dog will bark at any movement or noise that it’s not familiar with or that seems out of place in the house that it’s defending; and without a collar that hampers the barking, the dog will continue to bark at it, scaring the stranger away and waking you up.

If you don’t have the time for training and don’t want to spend a lot of money on a dog school, then the bark dog collar is the best option that you have.

Learning How The Citronella Bark Collar Works

Categories: Training | March 13th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Everyone who owns a dog should make sure they have taken the time to train their dog properly. A well trained dog will not scare guests or jump on them without a reason. It should also not be constantly barking. Too much barking, specially at night, might make you the most unwelcome person in the neighborhood.

The constant barking, when it’s not related to health problems, might make it impossible for people in the house to enjoy a simple conversation, at which point a citronella bark collar becomes almost a necessity.

What’s A Citronella Bark Collar?

The citronella bark collar is becoming popular among dog lovers. If you are concerned about having a bark collar that will harm your dog there is no need to worry when you have the citronella bark collar. This collar works in an unique way that doesn’t hurt or makes your dog feel any pain. Instead, a small spray of citronella shoots out from the collar in front of their nose.

Once the dog detects the smell of citronella with its highly developed sense of smell, it will instinctively try to figure out what is going on. Being a curious animal, the dog will momentarily forget why it was barking in the first place and spend some time looking for the source of this new smell.

After a while, the dog will make the connection and realize that this strange smell appears every time barking takes place. The collar wouldn’t have hurt the dog, yet the animal would have learned that it can avoid the spray by restraining its barking. This collar has been selling well because it’s harmless and painless for dogs. Owners love it because it is gentle on the dog but still extremely effective and reliable.

The citronella bark collar can be found in almost every pet supply store, among other types of anti bark collars. A similar collar, which is also becoming popular among dog lovers, is the ultrasound collar. It’s yet another collar that won’t hurt your dog, but instead of spraying your dog’s nose with citronella, it will emit a high pitched sound that only dogs can hear.

Humans will not be able to hear this sound, which is a good thing in this case, because you won’t have to hear a beep in addition to the barking every time your dog goes wild. Otherwise, it would be even more difficult to be in the presence of the dog.

The citronella bark collar is a very effective solution, specially if you consider its low cost in relationship with other, more expensive options.

Compare Pet Insurance to Determine the Best Pet Health Insurance for Your Pet

Categories: Training | March 12th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Although the number of pet owners in the States is on the rise, most of those owners will not obtain Best Pet Insurance; strange when you consider how attached people become to their animals and treating them like family members. We all know just how important it is to have health insurance; providing the same for our pets only seems fair.

It may at first sound like just another regular expense; until pet owners realize that those trips to the vet can be very expensive! The cost of taking an animal to the vets has increased enormously during the last decade; pet insurance providers have, therefore, increased their premiums. But paying for pet insurance is still much more cost effective in many cases than hoping for the best, and having to fork over a pile of money if your pet does get injured or seriously ill.

So other than rising costs, what are the main reasons you should consider cover for your pets. Anyone who owns a domestic animal needs to be prepared for health problems occasionally; this can happen at any time and usually when you can least afford it!

There may come a time when you have to consider the cost of medical treatment; you know that treating your animal will place financial strain on you.

I remember a few years ago when the vet told me that it would cost at least 1,000 dollars to save my dog; I have to admit to asking myself at the time if we could justify the expense. To make matters worse, there is always a chance you pet still won’t survive; if they do not survive despite the vets best attempts, the bill for treatment still has to be paid.

The financial aspect of looking after a pet is something that must be considered carefully; this is even more relevant if you are experiencing financial difficulties. If you are experiencing money worries then raising additional finances can prove embarrassing.

If you love your pets then they deserve the best medical treatment; arranging a pet insurance policy saves this type of predicament from happening in the future. Although Cat Insurance costs are rising they are not going to break the bank; these can be arranged for as little as twenty dollars or so per month although better policies will cost twice that.

Nearly all pet health care policies can be tailor-made to suit individual circumstances; perhaps to incorporate more than one pet on the same plan. If you are a pet owner then perhaps this article has given you something to think about; you may already be giving this subject some serious consideration.

Anti Bark Collars: Understanding How They Work

Categories: Training | March 12th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

If your dog has a problem with barking and you have had about enough of it, it is time that you tried using an anti bark collar. These types of collars have been available for a long time, but it hasn’t been until recently that people are getting comfortable with them.

You should always try oral training first when reducing a dog’s barking, before you resort to other methods. The process is very similar to the one used for teaching your dog to sit, stay or fetch something, using oral commands that your dog has to respond to. Sometimes it can be more difficult than that and this is where an anti bark collar would come into play. Now it is just a matter of deciding which the best anti bark collar is for your dog to use.

Citronella Collar

This is one of the most popular choices. It’s a favorite collar, specially among young dog owners, since it doesn’t hurt the dog or makes him feel uncomfortable. It’s also notorious because it doesn’t give electrical shocks to the dog, unlike other types of collars. Instead of using an electrical shock, the citronella collar relies only on a small spray of citronella which is shot out when the dog barks.

The spray isn’t painful or specially uncomfortable to the dog; it stops the dog from barking because of this sudden smell that makes the dog wonder what happened. With time, the dog will understand that it’s the barking that triggers the spray, and will reduce the frecuency of the barking to avoid the spray. The barking is detected by a mic that’s built into the collar, which then releases the spray of citronella to stop the barking.

Ultra Sound Based Collars

Another top pick for an anti bark collar is the ultrasonic collar. The ultrasonic collar is also harmless to dogs, and it doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort, which is one of the reasons it’s so popular. The collar emits a high pitched sound that stops dogs from barking. The pitch is so high that humans can’t hear it, so don’t think that the collar is broken just because you can’t hear it.

One of the advantages of this collar is that you can adjust the settings, pitch, and frequency of the sound, so that it adjusts better to your dog’s behavior. For instance, your dog might respond better to a constant non-interrupted sound than to a series of individual sounds.

In the end, anti bark collars are cheaper solutions than dog schools, and they don’t hurt your dog at all, so you should really consider them if you want to reduce your dog’s barking to a normal level.

The Citronella Collar: Its Distinctive Characteristics

Categories: Training | March 11th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Having a dog that barks constantly for no reason is a nuisance. Barking is even more irritating to people who live near the dog owner. In addition, your dog’s constant barking can transform a quiet get-together with your friends in a struggle to understand that each other is saying. Fortunately there are different products and methods that can be used to help dogs learn to stop barking. Especially if you have tried verbally teaching them with no success, it may be time to purchase one of these products.

One of the cheapest, yet effective ways of handling the problem is getting a citronella collar. This is nothing like the shock collar which can hurt your dog.

The Citronella Spraying Collar

The most popular aspect of the citronella collar is that it corrects your dog in a very non-harsh way, while giving long lasting results at the same time. The collar takes advantage of the dog’s advanced olfatory sense. The collar can detect when the dog barks, and then it sprays the dog’s muzzle with citronella. It will not hurt dogs but they will stop barking immediately once they notice the new smell.

They will try to figure out what the odor is and where it is coming from. Over time they will start to understand the process. They will not understand exactly what’s happening, but they will notice that the strange smell comes on every time that they bark. It is the mist of citronella oil extract that is used here and this is the same oil that is used to repel mosquitoes.

One of the best options in the market is the Premier Spray Sense Anti Bark Collar. It’s widely available and to make it even better, it’s also quite inexpensive. Moreover, this collar is very simple to operate while still delivering good anti barking results. The collar will be working almost as soon as you put it on your dog. Some dogs take a bit longer to get used to it and understand that they need to stop barking to stop the spray but it always works.

There are other options but the citronella collar usually tops the list for most dog owners. You love your dog and do not want to see them get hurt. At the same time you do not want to have to deal with their incessant barking. This citronella collar offers you the best of both worlds and it is easy to refill.

Most of all, the citronella collar goes easy on your dog and leaves you without any worries that your family or neighbors will complain to you about your best friend.

Being Hit By A Car Contributes To Schnauzer’s Arthritis Pain

Categories: Training | March 10th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Several years ago, my sweet Schnauzer was hit by a car. Luckily, she survived but broke her hip badly. Although she never seemed to return to her full use, she made it through the healing process and has done fairly well. In comparison to her quality of lifestyle before the accident, it is apparent that it has drastically changed through her slow moves. When going up and down the two steps from the patio to the backyard, she shows difficulty and seldom runs and plays. Pet Chiropractic

Although her injuries have already healed, it has been six years that she seems to be very sensitive if I touch her leg for any reason. I had once been told that this was a sign that the pet is in pain, so, as you can imagine, I was very concerned about her.

Finding out what was wrong with Cherish led me to a trip to the Animal Fitness Center. Dr. Ava Frick told us that Cherish had been suffering from arthritis. I never thought that my dog would ever have arthritis. I had the thinking that it was only for humans.

Arthritis is actually an inflammation of a joint, and often painful as how Dr. Frick explained it. Arthritis leads to the wear and tear to joins through the natural aging process. Being hit by the car so many years ago, she said, likely aggravated the arthritis. And it will almost certainly be worse when there has been an injury.

Often, an injury will cause the joint to have irregular surfaces or cause problems in how two bones mate within a joint, she said. It never occurred my mind that this led to more wear and tear. Without the smooth, flexible cartilage being present, bone-on-bone contact can cause additional pain.

Dr. Frick explained that sometimes NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are helpful for pets with arthritis and cortisone could also be used to reduce pain and inflammation.

Physical therapy, acupuncture, therapeutic laser, massage, and veterinary chiropractic are some non-medical alternatives that have been proven to be successful in treating canine arthritis. Although it is oftentimes hard to be successful in finding a veterinarian, who is expert in these areas. I recommend scheduling an appointment with Dr. Frick at Animal Fitness Center if you reside near Union, Missouri. She gave my dog a much happier life through her work of wonders in reducing Cherish’s arthritis pain and symptoms drastically. Animal Joint Pain

The Best Dog Food For Man’s Best Friend

Categories: Training | March 9th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Looking after a pet is a really rewarding part of life, and caring for them is relatively straightforward but there are things to consider when buying food for your dog.The type of food and the amount of feed that you give to your pet has a great effect on the animal’s health and appearance.

If shopping for the best dog food please don’t just look at the price. Pay close attention to the ingredients as they are much more important. The benefits of feeding a good quality dog food are significant and your dog’s overall health and wellbeing will certainly be improved. To ensure that you are giving your dog the highest quality of food, always check the labelling on the bag.

Dogs are carnivores which means they like to eat meat.Bearing this in mind you should only every purchase dog food where meat is the very first ingredient. At the bottom end of the price scale many cheap dog food products will only contain meat by-products. These should be avoided as they offer little nutritional value.Soya is becoming widely recognised in human food, but for dogs it is another no-go product as many are intolerant to it.

Many pet owners look to their dog’s food to enhance a particular characteristic of the canine. The variety of specialist dog food is growing and there are foods which can for example help to clean your dog’s teeth whilst she chews, or food ideal for dogs with sensitive skin.Oils are effective at adding shine to a dog’s coat. Look for dog foods with Omega 6 and Omega 3 for achieving healthier skin.

If your dog is very active then you should look for foods that are high in protein and carbohydrates, as these will help to keep energy levels high.A less active dog should be provided with fewer calories and this becomes even more important as the dog gets older.
If your dog prefers wet food served from a can you need to again pay attention to the ingredients. Avoid tinned foods that show water as the main ingredient.Water is used as the main ingredient in many varieties of canned pet food and the sole purpose is to lower the cost.If you feed your dog a diet of good quality wet food you should combine this with a daily dry chewy product, such as a bone. This helps to exercise your dog’s jaw and can help keep teeth clean.

If you want the best for your dog’s health then you really so need to consider feeding her a premium quality, scientifically proven dog food product. The ticket price of premium dog foods is generally higher but portion sizes are usually smaller, so the cost per bowl will often work out the same as a cheap supermarket type feed.

Using Diatomaceous Earth Filters Within your Fish Tank

Categories: Training | March 9th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

Anyone who has kept a n aquarium knows how dirty the water gets. Of course, although fish are tiny, they are also rather sloppy critters, and the water wants constant upkeep. Even if you make it a practice to switch the water and rinse out the aquarium on a regular basis, you’re still going to want some aid with the huge task of maintaining a healthy environment for your fish. One of the things that will help you is a good filter. Filters can be biological or chemical, but one of the best filters you can buy is one that uses diatomaceous earth as it’s filtering medium.

As the name indicates, diatomaceous earth comes from the soil. Diatoms are small organisms that die and leave fossilized remains in the soil. By so doing, they fill the soil with minute cavities which may be employed effectively in filtering debris out of water, including the water in aquariums. These are the same kinds of filters which are employed in pools and municipal applications, and they are excellent for capturing even the smallest particles in your water. In fact, they corral particles that are too tiny to be caught in most other types of water filters.

Vortex Diatom Filters are high speed mechanical filters which are built to fine filter water in aquariums without upsetting the natural, and desirable, level of bacteria. Although most of us have been conditioned to think about bacteria as being a bad thing, there are many various kinds of good bacteria that we rely on each day, so it is important that we not rid any ecosystem of the good bacteria that it needs for plants and animals to survive. A filter which damages the balance could prove dangerous for your fish.

A System one Pressure Filter from Aquarium Products will polish tank water at the rate of 300 gallons per hour. It can be used both in saltwater and freshwater aquariums successfully. By filling the filter jar with diatomaceous earth, which can be bought separately, it will run for about 3 hours at a time. It has to be turned off after 3 hours, because running it longer will cause the motor to burn up. However, in that 3 hours, you will have filtered and polished the best quality of water on the market today.

Although it may seem a little weird to use soil to clean your tank, diatomaceous aquarium filters are so popular that they are on back order at most online shops. With persistence you will be able to find the filter you need to keep your aquarium clean and your fish healthy.

Easy House Training Methods to be Used on Dogs and Puppies

Categories: Training | March 8th, 2010 | by Kenny | no comments

If you have just brought a new puppy or dog into your family and plan for them to be a house dog, you need to get your dog house trained. There are several dog potty training techniques that can help you out and which one you choose will depend in large part on where you live and what your lifestyle is.

Paper training is one type of potty training you can use. Basically what you do is train your dog to go to the bathroom on paper in your house. You need to praise them when they do it right and getting after them (in a loving yet stern manner) when they make a mess in the house. You can combine this with the next technique to encourage them to go outside when possible, but use the paper if they have to go inside.

Training your dog to go to the bathroom outside is one of the most common methods of house training. One way to go about doing this is to take your new dog or puppy out frequently and praise them when they go to the bathroom to let them know they did what you want. As I mentioned above, make sure you scold them when they make a mess in the house. If you want to combine techniques, you can praise them a little bit when they go on the paper and praise them excessively when they go outside. This will show them that it is ok to use the paper, but much better to wait and go to the bathroom outside.

There are other techniques like crate training you may want to explore. Check out the links at KDMGermanShepherds.com for more information on obedience training for dogs including the Secrets to Dog Training program and The Ultimate House Training guide which can train your dog to be nearly perfect.

For anybody that has a German Shepherd as part of their family, be sure to check out the German Shepherd puppy training page we have at KDMGermanShepherds.com. You will find helpful advice for German Shepherd puppies and more information about some of the top dog training courses you can get over the internet.
