Canines, like humans, enjoy having an area they can call their own. This is possible for them with kennels and crates for dogs. It is more common to use crates when your canine is inside the house and to use kennels when your dog is outdoors. If your furry friend is going to stay outdoors for long periods of time, and especially if you don’t have a fenced-in yard, you will need a dog kennel to keep your furry friend secure and comfortable. The size of the kennel will be determined by how large your furry friend is, and don’t forget to take into account (if your dog isn’t already fully grown) how large your canine will eventually get. A great number people select either a galvanized steel kennel or a wire mesh kennel for usage outdoors. You have options for the ground covering ranging from the original soil in your back garden to a concrete slab to gravel. Remember that if your furry friend likes to dig, they may well be able to dig below the kennel and escape if you stick with dirt or sand. It is also a good idea to put some kind of a covering over the kennel. A replaceable tarp that you can batten down is a good solution or you could decide to go with a shingle roof. It depends on how much money you are willing to pay out.

Dog crates and kennels come in numerous shapes and sizes but a good instance of a kennel is the Jewett-Cameron Champion dog kennel which costs about $200. It is easy to assemble and it is constructed for convenience, long life and safety. It is constructed of galvanized steel that gives you corrosion protection and it will also protect your furry friend from stray dogs and wild animals. A tarp could easily be placed over the top of the kennel. It measures 5 feet long x 5 feet wide x 4 feet high. If you need something larger Jewett-Cameron offers a kennel that is 10 feet long x 5 feet wide x 6 feet high and will set you back about $400. It has the same great characteristics as the other kennel but it offers your furry friend a lot more space to relax.

Dog crates also come in steel but, in addition, you can come across them in plastic, wood and canvas. These work better inside your household and will provide your furry friend an area that they know belongs to them where they can feel safe and sound. They are also practicable for driving your pet to veterinarian appointments and for other travel requirements. Lots of the wooden crates are constructed to resemble an item of furniture and they can be manufactured to match your furniture and even used as a coffee table. They begin at about $200. The wire crates begin at approximately sixty dollars, just like the canvas crates. On the less expensive side, you’ll find cheap dog crates made with plastic that will set you back approximately $40 but, obviously, price is based on not just on the size of your pet but also on the features that you require.

Dog crates and kennels can be a real advantage to both you and your puppy. For outdoors, they have a spot where they are secure and you can feel confident leaving them knowing they are in a contained area and happy. For inside, both you and your puppy will be content knowing they have an area to call their own where they can retreat and feel safe and at ease.

Orville, my 13-year old Golden Retrieve has always been my “baby”. I have spared no expense in his care, including the best trainer, groomer, food and supplements, and veterinary care. Pet Chiropractic

I began noticing signs that he might be having trouble with his hips and joints recently. At first, I wasn’t too concerned because it might just be signs of aging. I was alarmed to learn that Orville might be in pain upon looking it up online. I hated the thought of my beloved companion hurting, so I asked friends who happened to have a couple of older dogs. When they had a similar experience, they took their dogs to a veterinarian who specializes in chiropractic care for their canine, feline, and equine patients.

I scheduled an appointment with Ava Frick, DVM with her Animal Fitness Center, near St. Louis, Missouri since my friends recommended her. They were convinced that her care had made a difference in the quality of their dogs’ lives and praised her.

Orville’s first appointment with Dr. Frick was a month ago and just had his second appointment this afternoon.

Including pain that the pet might be experiencing in their back, leg, or even in their tail, Dr. Frick told me that she offers chiropractic care for dogs due to many reasons.

Basically, chiropractic care concentrates on disorders of the human nervous system, musculoskeletal system and how these systems affect our overall health. Since it concentrates on the dog, cat, or horse and its nervous system, muscuskeletal system and their impact on the pet’s health, animal chiropractic care is similar.

Similar to what you expect from the first time you visit any doctor or veterinarian, our first appointment involved providing Orville’s health history. A visit to a veterinarian is no exception, it is also important to establish a thorough, accurate history when you visit a health care provider for the first time. Dr. Frick obtained information about Orville’s current state of health as well as the purpose why we made an appointment.

She had Orville lie down so that she could exam him and adjust his spine, similar to what I have experienced when I visit my own chiropractor. Orville was fine throughout most of the exam. It seemed like he was relaxing during a massage, he actually has always loved to be messed with. That is, until Dr.Frick paid attention to his hips. Orville snarled just a bit, so Dr. Frick was even more careful in that area, and for the rest of the exam.

After the exam, Dr. Frick talked to me about the importance of making sure Orville gets more exercise. She said that we needed to strengthen the muscles in his back legs. Even a small amount of exercise each day would prove beneficial. Something that I thought was really interesting was Dr.Frick’s advice to tickle Orville’s tummy while he was standing. She said that this would help his spine since a dog will automatically hunch up when his stomach is touched.

I am so delighted that we have gained such great results minus stuffing pain pills into my dog and was convinced with what Dr. Frick provided. Animal Pain Relief

My five-year old Maltese, Heidi got me concerned with her skin seemed dry and flaky and her coat not seemed as the usual full and silky. Her condition did not alarm me at first because I thought it was just caused from the dryness in the house during the winter months. But it did not clear up. Actually, it even got worse. Pet Pain Relief

Heidi sleeps next to me every night but her irritation reached the point that she scratch so intensely and wake me up. When your baby is suffering in pain, it is really difficult to get a full-night’s sleep.

At Heidi’s appointment, I mentioned her irritation to our veterinarian, Dr. Ava Frick and she asked me if I might possibly be bathing Heidi too often or using the wrong shampoo. Although both are common reasons for a dog to incur skin irritation, but I use a very mild shampoo and do not bathe Heidi that often.

Since I am sensitive on preventing fleas from ever becoming a problem, it is ruled out. She only goes outside to play a bit each day and relieve herself and I am cautious enough to have the yard treated in order to prevent fleas.

Ruling out those possibilities, Dr. Frick and I then discussed on how essential fatty acids are important to a dog’s healthy coat. I was worried about the possibility of Heidi having some sort of deficiency in her diet, although I thought I was making the best choices when purchasing her food and treats.

I have learned that healthy fats are essential in keeping a dog’s coat in good shape. Low-quality commercial dog food do not provide the proper nutrients to support healthy skin and coat. Improperly balanced homemade dog foods often lack proper nutrition, as well.

Omega-3 is also beneficial for a dog’s skin because of its anti-inflammatory effects. They are beneficial to dogs with allergies or other inflammatory skin diseases. They are great since they can also lessen itchiness as most dogs irritate their skin by excessive scratching.

Dr. Frick provided some changes to Heidi’s diet, which includes addition of supplements. She said that I should start to see some improvement in Heidi’s skin and coat within about six weeks of starting Omega-3 supplementation, and she was exactly right.

My dog’s skin and coat are more beautiful than ever. And the best thing about it, Heidi’s irritation that led her to scratching like crazy finally stopped. Animal Chiropractic

As luck would have it, my Pekingese Clyde starting limping late on a Friday evening, after the vet we had been seeing for several years was closed for the weekend. It seemed to help, so tucked him in for the evening and with the intention of checking on Clyde’s condition the next morning before deciding whether to visit the emergency vet clinic. Compared to our regular vet, the rates were so out of sight so I tried to avoid the emergency clinic in town. Pet Chiropractic

Come Saturday morning, Clyde was better but not 100%. Taking care to hold pressure on trigger points until the I could feel the muscles relax, I spent some time massaging him again. I didn’t worry too much because Clyde appeared calm.

Clyde’s muscle spasms were quite violent by then. I started looking for clues about what might be wrong and held his tiny body close while typing some keyword phrases into a search engine. The name “Dr. Ava Frick” and “Ava Frick, DVM” kept popping up in the search engine results, so I visited her web site and then made a call to her clinic.

Dr. Frick really impressed me when she quickly squeezed us into her schedule. I got the impression that her staff cared about their patients just as much as Dr.Frick did. After taking Clyde’s complete medical history, Dr.Frick conducted an examination to determine what might be wrong. She started canine chiropractic treatments immediately and then set up schedules for succeeding treatments.

Clyde’s treatment made him feel relaxed and comfortable, which is the most important. I am so glad that I found someone who exactly knows how to solve Clyde’s pain although I had never heard of the concept of using chiropractic techniques on animals.

At every chance I get, I recommend Animal Fitness Center and Dr. Frick’s staff to my fellow pet owners. Horse Joint Pain

Barking is the only way your dog has to express its emotions, be it fear, agressiveness, or hunger. It is when barking becomes too loud or happens at very inconvenient times that it becomes a real problem. If you’re reading this, chances are you have had or currently have this experience, where your best friend keeps everybody awake at night. Although excessive barking is common to some species of dogs, one louder than the other, it’s your responsibility to take corrective measures to address your dog’s incessant barking. You can optto train your dog yourself, pay someone else to train it for you, or just get a dog bark collar

The dog bark collar is the most cost effective solution for reducing the barking of your dog until it’s no longer a problem. There are three different types of anti-bark collars to choose from - the ‘Citronella’ dog bark collar; ‘electronic shock’ collar (or E-collar); and the ‘ultrasonic’ dog bark collar. These three types of anti-bark collars have proven highly effective in significantly reducing or stopping dogs from barking continuously.

The Citronella Collar

This dog bark collar is designed to automatically spray the dog with Citronella each time it barks. The citronella oil is quite common in products where a strong smell is needed, like certain perfume products. This type of scent is disliked by all dogs, and therefore, makes the citronella dog bark collar highly effective.

The Shock Collar

This collar is one of the most well known ones. This collar functions by delivering a mild electric shock to the dog’s neck when the dog barks. The first bark triggers a mild shock which gradually intensifies if the dog’s barks again within 30 seconds. The collar will continue to increase the intensity of the shocks until it reaches its highest level, at which point it will shut down to avoid harming the dog, who is probably trying to communicate something urgently.

The Ultrasonic Collar

This collar works by emitting a sound that’s too high pitched for you to hear, but that it’s perfectly audible by dogs of all breeds. This collar’s advantage is that the sound it uses is harmless to the dog and doesn’t add more noise to the dog’s barking.

Investing in a dog bark collar for your bark-happy, canine pet is one way to demonstrate your commitment to a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Your dog’s barking won’t go totally away, as it’s part of its nature, but it will become much more tolerable.

Excessive dog barking can cause a hassle and annoyance for more than just you. Neighbors of people who have such dogs will eventually start to resent the dog or the dog owner, specially if the barking takes place very late at night. If you own a dog, it’s your responsibility to train your dog so that its barking doesn’t bother the people that live with you or around you.

Dogs will always bark to express whatever sensations they have, but even so, there are a few things that you can do to restrain his barking. The bark dog collar is one of the most commonly used stop barking products available on the market today.

Your Alternatives

If you have decided to get a bark dog collar for your favorite pet, then you need to decide which of the many types of collar you will get. The most well known one is the shock collar, which is a bit controversial. Like its name implies, the shock collar gives shocks to dogs when they bark, although these shocks can be compared to static electricity in intensity. These shocks are very mild, and to the dog’s skin, they aren’t painful at all, yet many animal lovers find them cruel and excessive.

If this is your case, then you can try a method that seems less harsher, like the citronella anti bark collar. The citronella anti bark collar works in exactly the same way as the shocking collar, but uses a spray of citronella smell on the dog’s muzzle instead of a shock. This is not going to harm the dog in any way and instead will stop him from barking because it will peak his curiosity.

The smell is very intense, and by nature, dogs will try to find out what’s going on. With enough time, dogs will link the barking with the citronella spray, and will learn to limit their barking whenever they are wearing the collar, Keep in mind that the anti bark dog collar will be programmed so that you can turn them off when you are going to bed at night if you want the dog to be able to alert you of burglars.

A guard dog will bark at any movement or noise that it’s not familiar with or that seems out of place in the house that it’s defending; and without a collar that hampers the barking, the dog will continue to bark at it, scaring the stranger away and waking you up.

If you don’t have the time for training and don’t want to spend a lot of money on a dog school, then the bark dog collar is the best option that you have.

Everyone who owns a dog should make sure they have taken the time to train their dog properly. A well trained dog will not scare guests or jump on them without a reason. It should also not be constantly barking. Too much barking, specially at night, might make you the most unwelcome person in the neighborhood.

The constant barking, when it’s not related to health problems, might make it impossible for people in the house to enjoy a simple conversation, at which point a citronella bark collar becomes almost a necessity.

What’s A Citronella Bark Collar?

The citronella bark collar is becoming popular among dog lovers. If you are concerned about having a bark collar that will harm your dog there is no need to worry when you have the citronella bark collar. This collar works in an unique way that doesn’t hurt or makes your dog feel any pain. Instead, a small spray of citronella shoots out from the collar in front of their nose.

Once the dog detects the smell of citronella with its highly developed sense of smell, it will instinctively try to figure out what is going on. Being a curious animal, the dog will momentarily forget why it was barking in the first place and spend some time looking for the source of this new smell.

After a while, the dog will make the connection and realize that this strange smell appears every time barking takes place. The collar wouldn’t have hurt the dog, yet the animal would have learned that it can avoid the spray by restraining its barking. This collar has been selling well because it’s harmless and painless for dogs. Owners love it because it is gentle on the dog but still extremely effective and reliable.

The citronella bark collar can be found in almost every pet supply store, among other types of anti bark collars. A similar collar, which is also becoming popular among dog lovers, is the ultrasound collar. It’s yet another collar that won’t hurt your dog, but instead of spraying your dog’s nose with citronella, it will emit a high pitched sound that only dogs can hear.

Humans will not be able to hear this sound, which is a good thing in this case, because you won’t have to hear a beep in addition to the barking every time your dog goes wild. Otherwise, it would be even more difficult to be in the presence of the dog.

The citronella bark collar is a very effective solution, specially if you consider its low cost in relationship with other, more expensive options.

There are a multitude of dogs toy to choose from when you are looking for the perfect gift for your pet.

Although the number of pet owners in the States is on the rise, most of those owners will not obtain Best Pet Insurance; strange when you consider how attached people become to their animals and treating them like family members. We all know just how important it is to have health insurance; providing the same for our pets only seems fair.

It may at first sound like just another regular expense; until pet owners realize that those trips to the vet can be very expensive! The cost of taking an animal to the vets has increased enormously during the last decade; pet insurance providers have, therefore, increased their premiums. But paying for pet insurance is still much more cost effective in many cases than hoping for the best, and having to fork over a pile of money if your pet does get injured or seriously ill.

So other than rising costs, what are the main reasons you should consider cover for your pets. Anyone who owns a domestic animal needs to be prepared for health problems occasionally; this can happen at any time and usually when you can least afford it!

There may come a time when you have to consider the cost of medical treatment; you know that treating your animal will place financial strain on you.

I remember a few years ago when the vet told me that it would cost at least 1,000 dollars to save my dog; I have to admit to asking myself at the time if we could justify the expense. To make matters worse, there is always a chance you pet still won’t survive; if they do not survive despite the vets best attempts, the bill for treatment still has to be paid.

The financial aspect of looking after a pet is something that must be considered carefully; this is even more relevant if you are experiencing financial difficulties. If you are experiencing money worries then raising additional finances can prove embarrassing.

If you love your pets then they deserve the best medical treatment; arranging a pet insurance policy saves this type of predicament from happening in the future. Although Cat Insurance costs are rising they are not going to break the bank; these can be arranged for as little as twenty dollars or so per month although better policies will cost twice that.

Nearly all pet health care policies can be tailor-made to suit individual circumstances; perhaps to incorporate more than one pet on the same plan. If you are a pet owner then perhaps this article has given you something to think about; you may already be giving this subject some serious consideration.

If your dog has a problem with barking and you have had about enough of it, it is time that you tried using an anti bark collar. These types of collars have been available for a long time, but it hasn’t been until recently that people are getting comfortable with them.

You should always try oral training first when reducing a dog’s barking, before you resort to other methods. The process is very similar to the one used for teaching your dog to sit, stay or fetch something, using oral commands that your dog has to respond to. Sometimes it can be more difficult than that and this is where an anti bark collar would come into play. Now it is just a matter of deciding which the best anti bark collar is for your dog to use.

Citronella Collar

This is one of the most popular choices. It’s a favorite collar, specially among young dog owners, since it doesn’t hurt the dog or makes him feel uncomfortable. It’s also notorious because it doesn’t give electrical shocks to the dog, unlike other types of collars. Instead of using an electrical shock, the citronella collar relies only on a small spray of citronella which is shot out when the dog barks.

The spray isn’t painful or specially uncomfortable to the dog; it stops the dog from barking because of this sudden smell that makes the dog wonder what happened. With time, the dog will understand that it’s the barking that triggers the spray, and will reduce the frecuency of the barking to avoid the spray. The barking is detected by a mic that’s built into the collar, which then releases the spray of citronella to stop the barking.

Ultra Sound Based Collars

Another top pick for an anti bark collar is the ultrasonic collar. The ultrasonic collar is also harmless to dogs, and it doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort, which is one of the reasons it’s so popular. The collar emits a high pitched sound that stops dogs from barking. The pitch is so high that humans can’t hear it, so don’t think that the collar is broken just because you can’t hear it.

One of the advantages of this collar is that you can adjust the settings, pitch, and frequency of the sound, so that it adjusts better to your dog’s behavior. For instance, your dog might respond better to a constant non-interrupted sound than to a series of individual sounds.

In the end, anti bark collars are cheaper solutions than dog schools, and they don’t hurt your dog at all, so you should really consider them if you want to reduce your dog’s barking to a normal level.
