Dog agility equipment, what is in your head when we talk about it? Exactly, this is some tools used to train dog well for dog agility contest. In the recent time dog agility contest is a kind of game hold every year in United States. This show involves not only a lot of kinds of dogs but also good dog trainers and dog owners to train them. Dog agility equipment, both bought and hand-made, is needed to train our dogs well so that they are ready to join dog agility contest whenever it is conducted. It is said so for in the dog agility contest, there are some obstacles which have to be challenged and passed through by the dog without making any mistakes.

By teaching them using dog agility equipment, we make them accustomed to face with a ‘real competition’ so that in the truly agility contest held by a formal organization the dog could do as best as it could and expectantly they could be the champ of the competition. There are some aspects of the training itself to make a successful competition: the dogs, the dogs trainers or dogs handlers, and also dog agility equipment as well.

Dog Trainers

In the training programs the dog trainers or dog handlers could do anything to influence or push the dogs run through the dog agility equipment, by giving incentives (food or snack), touching the dogs’ part of the body or anything else. Those ways are done in order to quicken the dogs run through the course of obstacles. Nevertheless, they could not touch or give any food and snack to the dog while they are competing in a real contest. In the real contest, the only thing the trainers could do is giving verbal and physical instructions to their dog. Thus, training using dog agility equipment in a course of training programs has to be maximized so that successfully training program could bring them a success to their real contest. Herein, the trainers or handlers’ role is truly needed in order to direct them in that way.

Dog Agility Equipment

One type of dog agility equipment is a-frame. The A-frame consists of 2 platforms which are joined together with a hinge and are lifted up in order to possess the hinged connection to be about five to six feet higher than the ground. The form of the device is A-frame, and the dogs have to pass through over it.

The dog walk is the dog agility equipment consisting of 3 boards attached together at the ends of the boards. The mid board is elevated up to about 4 feet from the ground which gives the dog walk with 2 ramps. The dogs have to pass through up one of the ramps to the top board and then pass through down the other ramp to reach the ground.

The teeter-totter is a long board which pivots on a support. The component is created to be a little off balance in order for the similar end of the board to always return back to the ground. This type of dog ability equipment has to be designed so that the tiny dogs that are competing in the dog agility show can make the higher end of the device go down to the ground.

It can be thought that A-frame, dog walk, teeter-totter, crossover, weave poles and several kinds of jumps are some usual dog agility equipment used for dog agility training. Those devices are employed to raise the dog ability and dog’s speed to pass through the course of obstacles they are faced in a dog agility contest. It has to be taken into account that the equipment are only items used to support the training, while one of the most essential thing is the trainers itself and the dog ability in doing so.

Dog agility, what is that? Dog agility is another type of dog contests worldwide. The dog agility contest involves the unleashed dogs which have to run through a sequence of obstacles without making any mistakes. To be the champion of the contest, the dog should not make any mistakes and have high speed in getting through the course. The proprietors or the handlers of the dogs are prohibited to do anything, but yelling out or making any gestures to make their dog run faster through the course of obstacles. They could also run behind their dogs.

The dog agility courses are filled with a variety of obstacles, e.g. tunnels and ladders. The courses are generally about one hundred by one hundred feet and the obstacles are given with numbers to show the sequence that the dogs have to complete.

Complicated Courses

The dog agility courses are usually designed to be complex and are usually too difficult to be completed by the dogs without the coaching obtained by their handlers. The owners need to analyze the course and develop a particular strategy to make their dogs run quickly through the course without making any mistake. Using a map of the course is allowed to help the owners increase their strategy for the dog agility competition.

Scoring Alternative

It is accustomed to the dog to have only one chance to complete the course throughout the race. While the dog is speedily running through the course the owner of the dog is commonly running behind their dog giving out commands. The score the dog received is based on the number of faults it made throughout his run through the dog agility course.

In dog agility, there are also some punishments that will be given to the dogs if they do some violations. If the dogs do some fault, such as knocking down a bar or failing to run through the obstacles, the dogs will also be punished too. Further, dogs will also be punished with time faults if they take to much time in passing through the obstacles. Some elements which take into account in the quantity of time allocated are the level of course complexity, the level of dog agility competition and any other factors.

In conclusion, dog agility contest will give not only an entertainment to the owners of the dogs and also the spectators, but also many others. The contest could also challenge the dog owners and the dog handlers to prove how far they collaborate each other, how far their training and achievement, and how far they could handle their traumatic situation facing with many spectators. Do you want to show how solid you are with your dog? Maybe you can participate in this contest and prove you and your dog’s ability.

Do you know about Dynamite® kibbled pet food? If you believe what you hear on the radio, you might think that there is nothing better to feed your dogs. Our experience is that it is absolutely awesome, and for our dogs, it is “what’s for dinner,” but there are better ways. We know what they are, and you should know about them too.

In a perfect world, everyone would like to give their dogs the VERY best holistic dog food there is. I hope this is true for you. If so, here is some background you should know:

Don’t believe the myth that dogs are “carnivores.” Dogs are not carnivores – they are omnivores. To be healthy, they MUST eat both meat and plants. But, the primary way they get those veggies in nature has created some confusion and misinterpretations.

If you get to watch a wolf or coyotte, or other wild dog make a natural kill, you will see that they go right for the stomach, and the contents thereof. In a healthy herbivore, the stomach is full of partially digested vegetables. For the dog having dinner, this is the “salad” before the meat and bone entree. This is how they get needed plant-based vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. It only appears that they are just eating meat.

If they were to ONLY eat the flesh of animals they would quickly become ill and they would ultimately die from either nutritional deficiency or from acidosis. We all know they eat the flesh AND BONES—together, if the animal is small enough. If it is a larger animal, the bone is chewed and swallowed a little later, but it isn’t because they are out of meat—it is critical to the proper utilization of the flesh. The flesh is an ACID ASH food, and it must be neutralized with about four times as much ALKALINIZING bone and vegetables in order to maintain the healthy balance of 20% acid, 80% alkaline.

If you are interested in learning more about all this, pick up a copy of Dr. Ian Billinghurst’s books on the B.A.R.F. diet, or “Give Your Dog A Bone.”

recently I have read that, for the “real” Billinghurst raw food diet, you need to be sure to get the original books that he wrote. Some reviews of his recent books say that he sold out to the processed food industry. personally, I doubt it, but I have not read his recent books. I would guess that Dr. Billinghurst has come to accept the reality that very few people are taking the time to feed their dogs a healthy raw diet. We have observed that few will even take the time to feed their FAMILIES a raw diet, even after they understand how much difference it would make to their health. THIS FACT is why the Dynamite® kibbled pet food is so relevant to the health of your dog.

The value of the Dynamite® kibbled pet food is that it is a quick-feed, out-of-the-bag highly nutritious kibble that is toxin-free, unlike most ready-to-serve foods. The ingredients are very carefully selected and controlled to assure that the caninicide caused by the mainstream dog food companies are never a factor when feeding any Dynamite product. The food is manufactured in a plant that never allows any preservatives or toxins into the building, let alone into the food.

But, even Dynamite® kibbled pet food was not good enough for the owners of Dynamite. They dreamed of creating a dog food that was a ready-made, easy-to-feed Biologically Appropriate RAW Food diet. This past year they finally got it all together, and they are now producing the new “Dynamite Ultimate Diet for Dogs” — a raw extruded meat and vegetable dog food that is dried into a fine meal. It actually uses fresh-killed whole beef – not “beef by-products.”

The aspect of this new food that is not perfect is that it isn’t ready to just pour out of the bag and leave as food. It is a very dry extruded “meal” that needs to be recombined with about 4 parts water, then stirred and soaked before feeding, and it is BEST when mixed with fresh, raw LIVE vegetables that have been liquefied with water in a Vita-Mix (carrots, spinach, beets, left-over green salad, green beans, etc.). Because of this, most people with busy schedules still prefer to feed the Dynamite® kibbled pet food – a ready-to-feed kibble that can be poured and served—hassle free AND with a clear conscience.

Although Dynamite® kibbled pet food might be only the third-best holistic dog food, it still beats out all of its commercial competitors! We only know of the one commercial food that is better, and it is made by the same company …

Many dog owners assume that when they purchase a breed of dog with short hair, such as a Labrador Retriever, that they won’t have to spend time grooming their dog. They quickly find out that they are mistaken. While it is true that Labrador Retrievers do not require as much grooming as a longer haired breed of dog, there is still some grooming required.

There are several reasons dog owners need to spend time grooming their Labrador Retrievers. The first reason is their dog’s health. Regular Labrador grooming sessions will alert a dog owner to any lumps, bumps, scrapes, cuts and infections that the dog may have developed, in most cases the owner will be able to feel these things before they see them. Both the Labrador and the owner will find that regular grooming sessions will strengthen the bond between them. Time spent grooming will improve the dog’s overall obedience and patience.
Unless you are planning on competing in a dog show, grooming your Labrador doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out process. The first step in a daily grooming regime is to take you short hair rake, and use it on your dog’s body. Do not, under any circumstances, use it on a part of your dog’s body, such as the face and legs, where there is very little muscle between the skin and bone. The purpose of using the short hair rake is to pull the dead hair from your dog’s coat. When the dead hair is ignored it gives the dog’s coat a dull appearance. If ignored for any length of time the dead hair will appear on your couch. If you are grooming during a time when the dog is shedding its old coat it is best to do your grooming close to a trashcan.

When you have removed all the dead hair from your dog, you should then use a brush with short firm bristles to brush your dog’s coat. While the brush is smoothing the dog’s hair it will also collect the dog’s natural oils from its skin and deposit the oil on the hair shaft, giving the hair a healthy glow. A gleaming dog is a sign of successful Labrador grooming.
When they are grooming Labrador’s many dog owner forget about their dog’s ears and nails. Whenever the dog’s nails start to get long the owner will have to trim them. It is important to make sure that you don’t trim the nails to short. If your Labrador has white nails you can easily see the bloodline, the place where the nail turns pink. If the dog has dark nails you may want to take just a tiny bit of the nail off at a time. If you have never trimmed the nails before you’ll want to have a professional dog groomer or veterinarian help you the first time.

The ears are another important part of Labrador grooming. The breed seems to be susceptible to developing ear infections that are partly cause by the build up of dead skin, wax and dirt on the inside of the ear flap. The best way to prevent an ear infection from starting is to take a warm, moist, washcloth and wipe the residue from the flesh. It doesn’t have to be done everyday, just a couple of times a week.

A short haired rake will remove the dead hair while grooming Labradors while a firm bristled brush will give the coat a healthy shine. Labrador grooming sessions should conclude with a shiny dog. Staying patient is the key to grooming your Labrador puppy. The right Labrador grooming supplies is the key to successful grooming.

Bathing The Dog

The rules on how often you should bathe your dog are different from one dog to the next. Various breeds as well as various types of coats determine how often the dog should be given a bath. For example, the Poodle should be bathed every four or six weeks. On the other hand, the Pointer can go three or four months between baths. Other breeds which have harsh long coats, such as the Pomeranian, Samoyed, and the Norwegian Elkhound require less frequent bathing because it tends to soften the coat.

Bathing the dog is important in order to keep the coat and skin clean and healthy. The coat should always be brushed thoroughly before the bath. This will help to remove all dead hair and all mats from the coats of long-haired dogs.

The next step is to prepare the materials you are going to use before the bath. The following is a list of supplies you will need:

1. Shampoo (regular or special shampoos for conditioning, color, coat, etc.)

2. Bristle Brush

3. Sponge

4. Rubber Tub Mat

5. Two Thick Bath-size Towels

6. Chain and Choke (to secure dog)

7. Spray Hose

8. Cream Rinse (long-haired breeds with the exception of the Poodle and Terriers).

Always remember to secure your dog safely in the tub. A chain and choke is necessary for this, giving the dog about a foot and a half of slack. This will make sure that the dog cannot jump from the tub and injure himself. A rubber tub mat is also a good safety precaution.

Using a spray hose, wet the coat thoroughly with warm water. Next, apply the shampoo to the dog’s coat with a sponge, paying special attention to the ears, rectum area, and pads of the feet. These three areas are usually neglected by most groomers when bathing the dog. A small bristle brush may be used to scrub the head, ears, pads of the feet, and other extremely dirty areas of the coat. When the coat is thoroughly soaped and scrubbed, rinse it with warm water. When rinsing, place the thumb over the ear opening to keep water out of the ears. Also keep a hand over the eyes to prevent any soap from getting into them. Since every dog should have a double bath, repeat the soaping and rinsing process. On the last rinse be sure to get all of the soap out of the coat. Gently squeeze the hair on the legs, tail, ears, and all parts of the dog’s body with your hands to remove excess water. You must first towel dry before using a dryer.
