The Fast and Effective Puppy Potty Training

Dog owners must start out early with Puppy potty training. As soon as the puppy starts to move around comfortably, you should immediately start training your pet as the alternative of constantly cleaning the carpet of puppy “messes” can be quite frustrating for most of us.

Puppy potty training can be completed the correct way while it can also be tricky when essential steps are not followed exactly. Puppies are just like ordinary babies and they do not know the proper manners for as long as you do not show them the right way to do it.

There are several tried and tested techniques that you can follow when doing puppy potty training for our puppies.

1.Start with Crate Training – You can use the crate for easier training. If you are not able to closely watch your pet while doing the training, using the crate would be the most practical thing to do. The crate is viewed by the dog as his den, and dogs have the normal response of not soiling the place where they snooze. Keep motivating throughout the training. Use only one direction in sending your pet into the crate. Don’t forget to treat the puppy to reinforce good response from your pet. Don’t forget to let your puppy to spend enough time outside of the crate to complete the puppy potty training.

2.Assign a Potty Place – Keep motivating throughout the training of your dog. This means that you bring your dog on the same spot outside each time. Only spend around 10 minutes before going back inside. You can allow some playtime as soon as your dog has done its business.

3.Reward Your Pet for Every Success He Makes – Potty training is basically inducing the desired behavior by reinforcement. Whenever you give your pet a reward for his proper behavior and response, he would start to associate potty training to good things thus reinforcing that proper dog behavior. Once your puppy is happy, means that he is learning fast.

4.Utilize a Leash – The leash is a very important tool for the puppy potty training. It is important that you watch your dog closely while doing the potty training. You can tie the leash to your waist so that you have the puppy near you at all times.

5.Sustained Practice – Following the common and repeated adage – “Practice makes perfect”, you gain success in the potty training of your puppy when your do regular and sustained practice. You should regularly and without fail follow your dog outside right after every feeding and every times he gets out of the crate.

6.Don’t Use Paper – Resorting paper during potty training will only reinforce the behavior as it is impressed upon your pet that it is OK to potty inside the house.

7.Anticipate Possible Accidents – Accidents are bound to happen while doing puppy training. It is important that you are prepared for them. You should be able to prepare by having some important puppy cleaning tools ready for any eventualities. These include paper towels, enzymatic cleaners and odor neutralizers.
