Several years ago, my sweet Schnauzer was hit by a car. Thankfully, she survived but her hip was badly broken. She made it through the healing process and has done fairly well, although she never seemed to return to her full use. Comparing to her quality of lifestyle before the accident, it is evident that it has been drastically different by her slow moves. It is difficult for her to climb up and down the two steps from the patio doors to the backyard and she seldom runs and plays. Animal Chiropractic
Iit has been six years that she seems to be very sensitive if I touch her leg for any reason, although her injuries have already healed. When I was told that this was a sign that the pet is in pain, I got very concerned about her.
To Find out what was wrong with Cherish, made a trip to the Animal Fitness Center. Dr. Ava Frick informed us that Cherish had been suffering from arthritis. The thought of my dog having arthritis had never entered my mind. I had the thinking that it was only for humans.
Arthritis is actually an inflammation of a joint, and often painful, which was explained by Dr. Frick. Arthritis causes the wear and tear to joins through the natural aging process. Being hit by the car so many years ago, she said, likely aggravated the arthritis. And it will almost certainly be worse when if there has been any injury.
She said that the injury will oftentimes affect the joint to have irregular surfaces or cause problems on how two bones meet within in a joint. It never occurred my mind that this led to more wear and tear. The bone-on-bone contact can cause additional pain without the smooth, flexible cartilage being present.
Dr. Frick explained that NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) In other sometimes helpful for pets with arthritis, and cortisone could also be used to reduce pain and inflammation.
Including supplements that contain glucosamine, chondroitin sufate, or MSM are also known to help out in treating arthritis like certain dietary supplements. It is often difficult to find access to a veterinarian with expertise in these areas, though. Scheduling an appointment with Dr. Frick at Animal Fitness Center if you reside near Union, Missouri is highly recommended. She gave my dog a much happier life through her work of wonders in reducing Cherish’s arthritis pain and symptoms drastically. Dog Joint Pain
