I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before. She wasn’t very big at all. I believe she was a miniature shitsu. To use the word “miniature” was appropriate no matter what she was. She was an incredibly bad tempered little dog and always wanted to bite people who would get close to her or her owner. She had a nasty disposition and wasn’t afraid to let you know it. I’m referring to her in the past sense because she died not too long ago of poor nutrition. Pet Joint Pain

Let me tell you something; the kind of food my in-laws were feeding that poor dog was an abomination even though these types of dogs are prone to having chronic tooth problems. These little dogs are not intended to handle the kinds of foods we ingest. The pet pain it was in was obviously distressful even while it was still relatively young. Her biggest problem was her teeth I think. She only became more and more irritated because they never got her any pet pain relief. They always fed her the same food that they were eating. They didn’t seem to care about proper nutrition for her at all. Over the few times they used to bring the dog over to my house I noticed her teeth slowly rotting away. My in-laws just ignored it because they figured it was a common thing to these dogs. It never concerned them that they were actually causing the pet pain by denying her of a proper nutritious diet.

Eventually the dog went blind and experienced partial canine paralysis. I feel that by exposing what my own in-laws did to their dog, even though it’s a terrible thing to write about, I might be able to shame others when it comes to their dog’s nutritional requirements into correcting their behavior. With all of the data and knowledge available to common people like my in-laws it seems to me that no dog should ever have to go through the kind pain that little shitsu went through simply because they were too lazy to do a little dog pain research. I found an excellent site called AvaFrick.com where anyone can go to find out immensely valuable information about the nutritional needs of their pets. My wife no longer associates with her sister and neither do I. Because of built in programming dogs are compelled to protect people they have imprinted on. Let’s do a better job at protecting them shall we. Pet Chiropractic

The disease does not affect the ticks but affects other mammals like dogs due to the toxin secreted by the ticks. What happens, is that a tick bite can produce a flaccid paralysis, which leaves your dog with no muscular tone, feeling weak.

It is not as if all dogs or mammals are affected by this toxin from ticks, only some dogs are actually affected and some only suffer from paralysis of their hind limbs. It has been observed that since the effect of the poison injected by the tick works differently on different mammals, certain mammals tend to even die since their respiratory muscles weaken and they are not able to breathe.

It is thus necessary for you to know the type of paralysis to be able to get the situation under control which you can do by removing the ticks.

This article will help you protect your pooch from any dangerous situation caused due to ticks.

Symptoms of Tick Paralysis

It is not as if your dog will be immediately affected with just one bite of the tick as it takes a period of a week and several bites from the ticks to cause any paralysis. The tell tale signs are that your pet will appear much weaker and will have difficulty moving his hind legs.

Other signs are when the pet experiences problems to chew, swallow or even breathe though there may not be other symptoms like fever or shivering exhibited by your pet. Due to these problems like difficulty in breathing, respiratory malfunction can occur causing the death of your pet and it is thus imperative for you to take cognisance of these symptoms and take remedial action at the earliest.

Analysis

Paralysis is normally diagnosed depending on the symptoms and the condition of the dog at that time. Though the incidence of paralysis is also dependent on specific seasons, the good news is that the moment the ticks are picked up and thrown away out of the pet’s body, your pet will show a quick recovery.

Constantly checking whether your pet has any ticks on specific regions of the body is a good way of being careful, even though you may feel that you will be able to detect any symptoms of paralysis from his behavior.

Treatments

The most practical way is to remove all the ticks.

Picking up all the ticks on the pet’s body may be fraught with difficulty especially if your pet is very hairy and in that case you may need to shave your pet to ensure all ticks are effectively removed.

Once the tick is removed, most dogs will quickly recover, but if your dog is severely affective, then he/she may require supportive care from a veterinarian, or artificial respiration may be required.

You may also want to consider an antitoxin to be administered to your dog, so that your dog can cure faster.

Knowing the right kind of dog food for your pet dog does not only help give your dog the proper nutrition that he requires but it will also help keep him fit all through his life. However, to choose the right kind of dog food, you must also know the facts about your own dog’s nutritional needs as it changes as he grows up.

dog recipes come in variety. These dog recipes may be the dry food, canned food and soft-moist food. They usually vary in some aspects such as the cost, palatability, nutrition and moisture.

Dry foods are usually the ones with crunchy kibbles that helps do away the building up of tartar and plaque on your dog’s teeth. The shelf life of this food is also longer than that of canned food and soft-moist food especially when opened. This is because it is dry and does not attract bacterias that usually spoil the food.

Soft-moist foods are more palatable compared to dry dog foods. But this is more expensive and is easy to serve. However, once you have already opened this food, you need to store it in the fridge, place it inside a container and let your dog consume it for a maximum of three days.

Canned foods are the most palatable among the three and are expensive. Although this is the most palatable, it is also the first one to get spoiled. So, once you have opened the can, the unused food should be stored in a container with a lid and shall be placed in the refrigerator. This should always be consumed within the day.

As you know, your pet dog needs more than just the scraps of food on the table. Maintaining the good health of your pet dog will need more than just putting food on the plate. If your pet dog is a puppy, hunting or working dog, try to monitor closely its food and water intake because as we all know, puppies are fast growing and working and hunting dogs are very active. Thus, this type of dogs burn more energy compared to the other dogs. That is why, make sure that what you are feeding to your dog is the right dog food that will surely suit his nutritional needs.

Are you having problems with chronic itching of your pet hound? This can be a sign for dog skin allergies. Even home care and nutrition coupled with supplementation of dog vitamins are essential to fix this annoyance. The typical sign of this common dermatological problem is predominated by itchy condition of your pet hound. Your small animal companion will also manifest sneezing, wheezing and coughing and in some cases will also experience diarrhea and vomiting, and eye and nasal discharge.

During this very sensitive state of your pet canine, the immune system reacts to the presence of foreign matter, normally referred to as antigens or allergens. This event leads to the emergence of this external signs and symptoms that we can usually see in our hounds.

Types of Canine Hypersensitivity

The most common type of canine reaction is the inhalant hypersensitivity or what is normally referred to as atopy. Your pets may have similar reactions to the same types of allergens that affect humans. This means that tree pollens, weed pollens, grass pollens, molds, dust mites and mildew can trigger the sensitive reaction in our pets. Some of these allergens are found within our homes and immediate surroundings while others are present under specific conditions. Under the reactive state of our hounds, they will manifest the itchy condition which is generalized. The most common type of sensitivity in most house pets is the atopy type.

The various types of Staphylococcus are the main causes of bacterial disinclination in our pet mongrels. In most cases, your pet will not have any problem with Staph bacterial infection if it has healthy skin and normal immune system. However, if your mongrel starts to show a kind of reaction because of Staph infection, it will experience pronounced hair loss problem that is somewhat similar to ringworm. These are circular spots of about half to 2 inches in diameter. These patches or lesions can be treated with specific antibiotics although the infected and recovered animals will have high probability of developing recurrent bacterial disinclination.

Your mongrel may also experience antipathy to specific food types. Food antipathy is the second most common type of reaction. It is characterized by a burning sensation within the ear. Oftentimes, mongrels develop this type of antipathy as its way of responding to the food’s protein component. Most of these cases happen before the animal reaches 1 year old and beyond 5 years old. Common sources of the allergen include chicken, turkey, dairy products, beef and pork. This type of disinclination also results to itchiness, respiratory distress and digestive complications.

Your small animal companion will also exhibit hyperactive response to ticks and mites. The normal mutt will only manifest occasional and mild irritation as a result of itchiness from fleas. This response is normally not paired with itchiness. However, hyperactive response as a result of flea bites will be characterized by severe itchiness. A few bites of the fleas can already produce itchy spots. This reaction is mainly due to the saliva of the fleas that is left on the dermis of the mongrel. Hounds that suffer from this type of hyperactive response develop scabs and sores which predispose the affected animal to secondary bacterial infection.

Sometimes it is extremely tough to have a pet when you live in an urban area. There is not a lot of grass or yard space for you to walk a dog in, which limits the type of animals you can have. Sometimes you will see people with their little Dachshund or Yorkshire terrier dressed in small dog clothes. They have all sorts of dog accessories and start to look more like little people. Unfortunately these may be some of the only acceptable pets in an urban area because they are so small and easy to take care of. And for other people, they may have too busy of lives to have children, so the pet is the closest thing to having a baby.

In an urban area, many people do not own a home. Depending on what type of apartment building it is, you probably cannot own an animal. Sometimes certain tenants will residents bring in one or two tiny pets. It is not often that you live in an apartment where you can have a full sized pet. That is why many people turn to cats. Cats do not shed a lot of their hair, which means that many people will let them live in apartment buildings. With little shedding, it does not cause too much of a problem for those who may be allergic to cat fur. It is unfortunate for many because a lot of times people will have to get rid of any animals before moving into their apartments.

There are some pets that are allowed in apartments because they are very low maintenance. Birds are one of these. There is no need for a bird to leave its cage, so a tenant does not need to worry about the mess that it will leave. Not many people are allergic to birds, so tenants can get past that problem. Usually a very small pet, like a guinea pig or hamster, would be perfect apartment pets. They pose little concerns for building owners. The problem with many pets is that they will leave permanent damage to a building, making it harder to find a resident later on.

It is a shame that you cannot have pets in any building. There are many animals that could use a loving home. If you think about the amount of people that live in cities, a great percentage of those cannot own a pet. Having an animal in the house can be a real treat to most. Most pets love unconditionally and will be waiting for you when you come home. This gives many people a reason to relax and be happy after a stressful day at work. One can hope that many of these animals find homes because it would be a tragedy to see them never get the love they deserve. Maybe some people will see the need for pet owners and try to get one for their own home.

Many animal owners will not neuter their male dogs. Some transfer their emotions about the procedure onto their dogs, and decide that it is a wicked and unusual punishment. But most elude neutering their dogs because they’ve heard one or more of the many misconceptions about neutering. Despite all these rumors and myths, neutering is a responsible process that won’t harm the health of your dog. Here are some of the corrected misconceptions that keep many from having their dogs neutered.

Lack of sex will not depress your dog. Dogs aren’t humans, and do not feel the same about sex that humans do. In contrast to what some people believe, they won’t miss the romance or intimacy. As much as some folk appear to think otherwise, dogs are animals, and their drive for sex is only instinct. Not having sex will not harm, or depress, your dog.

Your dog will not become puny or effeminate. The dog’s strength or physical capabilities will not get touched by neutering. In fact, the sexual instinct that agitates some dogs will be removed by neutering. In household where female dogs also exist, neutering can address the behavioral Problems due to the sex instinct.

If your dog barks at people now, it will still do so if it is neutered. The assumption that a neutered dog will no longer make a good guard dog is ridiculous. It is a clear case of humans passing off misguided beliefs about manliness and strength onto dogs. Think about it: would a dog that’s’s sterile from birth become less of a dog?

One of the most responsible things that a pet owner could do is getting his dog neutered. Many folk use the debate that neutering an animal is outlandish. If you want to think logically, it isn’t natural to keep a dog as a pet, either. Dogs should be wild pack animals, so it’s twisted to keep one. Look at it from another viewpoint. Your dog depends on you to take care of it. You pet it, feed it, and bring it to the vet. You can save it by neutering it. A female dog in heat can make a male dog run from its owner to reach her, possibly getting the dog lost or putting it at risk on a busy street. With females around, male dogs act more aggressively. Neutering your dog gets shot of these hazards.

Your dog won’t cease being active, nor will it get fat. If you don’t overfeed your dog and neglect to take him for walks, your dog can’t suddenly bloat up after being neutered. This is a popular neutering myth because it does happen often, but it’s not thanks to the surgery, but rather the habits of the owner. Simply make sure your dog gets lots of exercise and the right amount of food.
