Aggressive dog behaviors can appear in even the sweetest looking pets. In order to deal with these potentially dangerous behaviors, you will need to start by finding out what the aggression triggers are. There are many different kinds of triggers that can cause aggressive dog tendencies, so it’s important to know what is setting off your dog so that you can deal with that specifically.

That’s right, your dog can be either Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde and it’s up to you to find out what trigger brings out that unwanted Mr. Hyde, so that you can eliminate it or redirect your dog’s behavior around it.

What triggers could bring about dog aggression? Review the following list and see if any of them reflect your own dog’s behaviors:

Territorial aggression - An aggressive dog with this problem will seek to threaten or harm anyone who walks by, approaches, or enters his or her turf. You may find your dog barking or growling at your house guests, someone delivering mail, or even a person who is walking by your house on the sidewalk.

Dominant aggression - In this case, the aggressive dog picks on family members or other animals in the household whom he or she feels are lower in rank in the hierarchy of your family.

Fear aggression - this kind of aggressive dog is frightened, insecure, or nervous, and will growl, bark, or snap at just about any disturbance. If you corner this dog, he or she will likely try to bite you.

Possessive aggression - An aggressive dog with this type of problem behaves as though they have two personalities; the nice dog and the one who doesn’t like it when you touch his or her toys or food.

Punishment aggression - An aggressive dog with this problem wasn’t usually born this way, but instead became vicious as a result of being mistreated through abuse, too much dominance, or negative reinforcement.

Pain aggression - Aggressive dog inclinations of this type aren’t a result of a behavioral problem but are simply the instinctual reaction a dog has to feeling intense pain. These behaviors are involuntary and result from injury or illness.

Predatory aggression - Aggressive dog propensity of this style is based on a hunting instinct where the dog is inclined to track and seek out prey. Anything that isn’t secured to the ground can be chased and if it is captured, there could be real danger if the prey is, for example, a child or another animal.

Maternal aggression - In this case, the new mother is overly protective of her litter of pups and can behave like an aggressive dog if she feels that those puppies are threatened. Mother dogs are very quick to assume that everything they see is a danger and so you should tread lightly around them.

There are lots of different kinds of triggers that can set off dog aggression in even the kindest breeds. It is possible to stop dog aggression in your pet, you just need to find out what’s causing it and then apply the right kind of behavior modification training.

Do you feel as though the ability to stop dog barking in your noisy pet is something that is simply out of your reach? Though it may feel as though your pooch is just doing it to bother you, there are actually many reasons that he or she may be making the noise.

For one thing, your dog may be trying to communicate something to you. If your goal is to stop dog barking, then you have to realize that you’re removing the primary method your dog has to alert you of his or her needs or desires such as boredom, needing to go out, needing to come in, loneliness, fear, or other forms of discomfort. Remember that you may have chosen a breed that is more genetically inclined to bark, such as Fox Terriers, Beagles, Cairn Terriers, Yorkshire Terriers, and Schnauzers.

Of course, there is a difference between deciding to stop dog barking completely, and simply cutting the excess noise. To accomplish this, you must communicate to your dog that barking is acceptable sometimes, and not acceptable at other times.

Let me share some tips I learned from my favourite train a dog program.

My life suddenly changed. What once seemed to be mission impossible changed to the easiest thing in the World. Sometimes I still can’t belive the difference this program made in our lives.

These are the seven secrets to stop dog barking:

1. Take charge – keep on top of the barking habit. React right away and command your dog to be quiet. Instead of shouting the command, think of the sound an alpha dog would make when growling a warning at another pack member.

2. If your dog refuses to listen, you should refuse to listen. Turn your head away, refuse to make eye contact, turn your back on your dog, and leave the room. Don’t give any kind of attention or recognition as you stop dog barking habits.

3. Never forget to praise your dog when he or she does stop barking when he or she has been told to do so. This can include happy words, a good scratch, and even a treat if you’d like.

4. Decrease the energy level – barking is often a response to too much unused energy. Walk your dog once or twice every day and provide him or her with enough additional exercise that there isn’t an abundance left over, making it harder to stop dog barking.

5. Don’t let your dog suffer from boredom by giving him or her lots of petting, attention, and play every day. Make sure that your dog has lots of great toys and that you give him or her tons of attention every day.

6. Keep a schedule – the more predictable your behaviors, the less likely your dog will be to bark in order to try to tell you his or her needs. Set a certain time for your dog’s feedings, walks, playtime, and even bedtime.

7. Allow some barking – keep in mind that you will never be able to stop dog barking altogether. Some barking will always occur so it is only the excessive noise that can be stopped. By bringing a dog home, you have to accept the fact that barking is a part of what that animal is all about.

If you follow these tips to stop dog barking, you’ll finally achieve that peace and quiet that you (and your neighbors) have been waiting for.

Have you seen a small dog prancing around your neighborhood decked out in dog clothes? It is very rare these days to see a tiny dog that is not wearing some sort of clothing or hair bow or at the very least a rhinestone charm attached to his collar. Of course there is always the functionality theory of clothing dogs. However, most pet owners who partake in this extravagant hobby do it for pure fun. Pet owners look forward to the designer styles that come out every season or cannot wait to get the hottest new trendy shoes. When we have children, the focus tends to turn toward them. We spend our time and money making sure that they are fashion forward and have the coolest trends. The difference between dogs and children though is that children have to wear clothes. So, why do we dress up dogs when we do not have to do it?

We may never know why humans dress up their furry friends in small dog clothes. Like talked about earlier, there is no disputing that there are functional reasons for clothing our dogs in extreme weather conditions or if they are a hairless breed that needs protection. However, we do not generally do it for this reason. There are four main reasons that people dress up their dogs in tiny dog clothes. These are not reasons that are set in stone.

Reason one: The most obvious reason is because they are just so darn cute! There is no disputing that a small pup in a cute little dress or a sweater is irresistible.

Reason two: We dress them up to draw attention. This is not meant in a negative way. Dressing our dog up when we take them out for a walk in the park can make for great start up conversation. Anyway, we love it when people say our children are adorable. So why can we not love it for people to compliment our dog.

Reason three: Some pet owners use their dogs as an accessory to their own outfit. Dogs make quite nice accessories because we can change their carrier, clothes, shoes and hair bows.

Reason four: Expression! We can say so much about ourselves by what we wear. The same can be said for what dogs wear. We can choose to express ourselves or the personality of our pooch through the dog clothes that we select for our pets.

People enjoy dressing up their pets and there is no question that this trend will continue. If your pooch will let you dress him up, then join in on the doggy fashion frenzy.
